Not looking to break the bank with all the name brand lens on the market. For the price of this lens, it is budget friendly. The pictures I took of the stars at night was spectacular. I'm no professional photographer, but I've been doing amateur photography for over a decade now. I also rarely do amazon reviews because I rarely am impressed or feel the need. In this case, I am both impressed and feel the need to leave feedback. I am not an employee of Yongnuo, nor was I given anything for this review. I bought this lens with my meager blue collar paycheck. I'm leaving this review because this is one of the best lenses I've ever owned. It's far from the best lens in terms of quality, nor does it have built in IS (image stabilization), so you'll probably be able to tell the difference between this and the highest end Canon CN-E 50mm that retails for $3,000. Yep, $3k for a nifty fifty lens. On the other hand, this lens new runs for what, $70? The performance per dollar spent on this is astronomical. I previously owned the first version of this lens for about a year. I purchased it preowned and sold it when I sold my Canon SL3 to buy a full frame camera (sold the lens because I didn't know which brand's full frame camera I was going to go with). I ended up going with the Canon 5D Mark II. It's slightly older than I wanted but I couldn't pass up the price, less than $400 for a full frame camera that I can install magic lantern on and only had 25K shutter count. I immediately went to purchase another Yongnuo 50mm but discovered there where actually 2 versions, the one I originally had and this version #2. So I bought this and my first experience wasn't a fluke, these lenses are the real deal. This lens does something for the entire photography consumer market; It shows us that there's a huge, MASSIVE markup on lenses. The quality & performance of this lens is virtually identical to the $200-$300 Canon version (my girlfriend has one and I've used it on many occasions) but without the insane markup. Hopefully Yongnuo will keep making lenses if only to provide more competition which will drop the price across products & brands. Drawbacks: This lens is NOT built like a tank, like the high end versions or Canon's own high-end 50mm. It's also not weather sealed nor has any bells or whistles (no IS). Since this lens is so cheap (monetarily), it doesn't really matter that it's not built like a tank, if it breaks it's not going to cause you to sell your car or take out a second mortgage to replace it.

ok, let's make this clear, it isn't a canon nifty fifty. BUT!!!!!! for what you pay for the lens it is a great value. and it doesn't hurt matters any that it takes great photos. I automatically started looking at their other primes.

Don’t exactly work well with my camera. I’m not sure if the contacts are not lining up or what. It takes one good photo and about 10 out of focus and color irregular and light all messed up. I guess it’s just my equipment but I’ll not buy another from this company.

Me encanta tomar fotos de retratos incluso cuerpo completo con este lente, tiene un efecto de desenfoque en el fondo espectacular. No pesa tanto por lo que es cómodo de llevar a cualquier pauta de fotografía, y en general es un lente esencial para cualquier fotógrafo. Súper recomendado, llego a tiempo, en perfecto estado.

Es mi primer lente comprado luego de solo tener el del kit 18-55mm y es perfecto para retratos, primeros planos, nocturnos y tiene un encantador bookeh y gran iluminación. En los pros es un lente perfecto para amteurs que quieren probar el 1.8 de apertura y practicar, tiene un rápido enfoque en condiciones de luz. En sus contras: se siente que es barato, es de plástico y está un poco suelto por lo que hace algo de ruido si lo antes rápido, no sé si sea normal en los lentes porque es mi primer lente. El enfoque en condiciones oscuras es malo y hace mucho ruido al enfocar aunque no importa si no grabas video. En conclusión: Cumple la misma función en fotos que el lente original canon y es más barato, la diferencia es la construcción y robustes, si eres nuevo o intermedio este lente es perfecto.
