This spiffy cage is attractive and super quick to assemble -- just unfolds and snaps into position in a minute or two -- even for a non-mechanical person like me. The folded position is not at all bulky -- excellent for those with storage limitations. Unlike other cages I have had, it has no sharp edges or fixtures. The black-coated metal is fairly light gauge & probably not suitable for a very strong animal, but it is fine for a cat or puppy. It is clean looking and well designed, and the bottom tray is handy for protecting your floor/carpet from spills. My only criticism is that the closing mechanism is not particularly secure; the cat I was housing in it (to acclimate him to the resident cat) almost pushed the two light bolts into the open position the first night he was in it. I can imagine a scenario where an animal could push open one of the bolts and get its caught head in the space between the door and the cage, and having its neck compressed witout being able to escape. (I know of a toddler who strangled in a similar manner in a crib with a top that was not secure.) I now use a couple binder clips at the upper and lower ends of the door to make sure this doesn't happen. But with those caveats, it is a fantastic product for the price. ... show more

Not bad. I like that this cage has a grid bottom so rabbit droppings can easily fall to the bottom of the slide out catch tray. We're using this for a dwarf rabbit as a back up cage. I zip tied a flat plastic dish mat from the dollar store on the ground of the cage for him to stand on and his feet look healthy and normal. Face it, rabbits can be messy in that their hay seems to always find its way to the floor outside the cage so, sweeping up must be a daily practice. I like that the cage is open to the air. I can bring it outside and let the bun get fresh air without fearing that the neighborhood hawk will have him for lunch if I run inside for a moment. The bottom pull out tray may miss the edges of the cage because it is a little smaller than the cage that it sits under so, use folded newspaper and lay that in the catch tray and place a puppy pad or an old towel over an old plastic mat or cut open and lay flat a large garbage bag underneath the entire cage to keep the floor clean and dry. The cage is not an industrial strong-as-steel cage so be gentle. Don't press your weight on it to help you stand up after bending down to clean it. But, for my purposes it is good enough and the price was very right. If you need an affordable bunny cage in a pinch this can work you just have to be willing to work with it. ... show more

I have a 12 week old Shih-Poo (half Shih Tzu, half toy Poodle) and we paid $60 for a Life Styles cage. Then, just in case we needed another cage for any reason, I took a chance on one of these. Am I glad I did! It is perfect for our needs. Unlike the $60 Life Styles cage, this one has a wire mesh floor which allows poop and pee to settle out of the cage so, when we leave our pup caged for 9 hours at a time, she isn't walking in her own ... I don't see how a puppy could open the door latch because it's the same design as the one on the Life Style cage, although of ligher gage steel. The lighter gage steel is still strong enough for our needs and the cage is light enough so my wife can move it from place to place by lifting up on a single handle that's permanently affixed to the top. Below the wire mesh floor is a tray that pulls out from the front so cleaning is easy. This was the best purchase I have made for my dog, particularly at the incredibly low price. ... show more

I have a mutt medium size. He leans and jiggles the cage and the door opens. He has bent the door out of shape due to it’s weakness in the bars. They flex to easy. The lock on the door is a straight piece of metal. Photo 1. It offers no resistance once the door is pushed on and jiggled. I can pull the door out of shape myself with my pinkie finger. photo 2. I would never purchase this kennel for a dog unless its size of a teacup Chihuahua. Photo 3 the door also was already bent between the bars but I thought it would still work. I bought this kennel from the Seller, Xtreme-Cage, and they shipped promptly -- the product came exactly as described. Not sure why that reviewer accused the Seller of being untrustworthy. At any Rate, we have pretty relaxed dogs, so I'm not sure if this kennel holds up with bigger dogs that try to break free from their 'doggie prison,' but for our needs, it's a great deal. We went to PetSmart and Pet Co to look at similar 30" kennels, and they were easily 80% more. Considering that the parts to make any dog kennel this size cost around $5, $79.95 at Pet Smart (like everything else there) is retail robbery. Anyway, this is a great deal, I can't see any reason to hesitate. Again, very solid seller, great deal on shipping. ... show more
