it’s easy to put together despite no written instructions. for a rimmed 40 gallon it will hang off a bit on the sides. i have the marineland one, and the length was not even half an inch longer than the stand. i think the petco brand 40 gal is a bit longer. so you just have to compare the dimensions of your tank beforehand. led strip did start falling off but it doesn’t really affect the look of the light, which is vibrant and sleek. you can always just remove it or replace it with better adhesive. it’s a great stand for the price. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I would say the stand is almost perfect. I just wish the cabinet was slightly bigger. I’m happy I can fit a 5 gallon bucket in it but I have to force it in. Like how all the other reviews say; the adhesive for the lights won’t hold up. So I ordered some double sided adhesive. Also the panel in which the outlet power cord, it seems like it’s not that sturdy. Other than that, I love the stand. I wish it was available in grey. It seems pretty sturdy and it’s holding my 20 gallon tank well. Assembly took me a little over an hour and that’s using a screw gun and a ratchet screw driver. If you use a screw gun, only tighten 90% then hand tighten the last 10%. ... show more

    • Not what I was expecting.
Easy enough to put together. However, the quality leaves me questioning if i want to keep this stand. The metal is THIN. I mean if you tighten the bolts to hard, it will bow the metal. It doesn't feel rock solid once built either. The metal bar that runs along the top do not go from end to end. Seems like a huge oversight in the design of a stand that could potentially hold 500+ lbs. I'm only using a 20 long on the 40-50 gallon stand and I'm still hesitant to fill it up. I'll update if I decide to go through with it. Also, the screws that hold the peice the plug go into are not long enough. ... show more
