So these came wrapped in two clear sleeves. Each sleeve contained m/f pairs, so you don't have to open both bags right away, which is nice. The spheres themselves look and feel like Acrylic. Polycarbonate would be more durable, but cost more, and most things aren't PC unless you specifically seek them out, since most people don't need it. The top hook loops are on both halves, which is great, because it reduces the chance it'll break off. They fit together like a plastic egg, like the kind from easter. The fit is snug, but it is not tight enough, I think, to keep them together, especially if they're all in a box for storage, or your cat knocks over the tree. I would recommend using a spot of CA (super) glue on the top and bottom, just a small amount applied with a toothpick. Also, any of these, you're going to see the seam where the two halves connect. It looks like two narrow, close bands where the light doesn't shine through the same. They are very shiny, I can see a faint reflection in them. The lister calls them heavy gauge plastic, which I would NOT say, but I think they are thick "enough." I can press and deform them about 20% without them shattering (maybe more, but I don't want to push it). They probably would crack if I stepped on one, although they're so large, I can't imagine how that'd happen. Only smallish complaint is that they weren't cut from the plastic mold sprue very cleanly, which is at the top of the hanging holes. It's pretty minor, but might bother some, so I thought I'd mention it. Overall, I think they're a great choice.
