I have a Venus soprano saxophone that I bought about a decade ago. As most sax players will know, Venus isn't exactly known for making high quality instruments, and I admittedly bought it because it was (relatively) dirt cheap compared to the alternatives. And it really showed- The lower register was almost unplayable below G, and it took so much effort to get an acceptable sound that I kind of gave up after a while and forgot about it for years. I recently dug it out and decided to see if I could improve it any, as my repair skills have vastly improved since my early 20s. I found a couple misaligned keys and fixed those but still struggled to get low notes to sound once the leaks were corrected. As a hail mary I ordered this mouth piece, and whaddya know, it actually plays now! Not only that but it has a much fuller sound all throughout the register. Considering the cost, I'll most likely be trying out the Tenor version of this on my other sax to see how that sounds. I'm really excited to finally be able to play songs on this cheap soprano after so many years!

I am very happy with this purchase, I have finally got the sound I have been searching for. Bright and edgy while able to pull back on the air and get a nice soft sound as well. Much better than the Yibuy Silver plated #7 I tried about a year ago. I was hesitant due to the #7 I had bought but I'm really happy with this one. I highly suggest it if you are looking to save a buck or two versus some of the other metal MP's out there.

This mouth piece is easy to clean and never tarnishes. The opening is wide and very easy to play. My playing has improved significantly since I bought this item. The price is right.

Docking one star because I can’t be certain what kind of metal this mouthpiece is made of, and because the ligature and cap are not great quality. I purchased an Antigua soprano through my local classifieds for a song and decided to give this mouthpiece a try. I already had the Tenor version in a 7 tip opening and was very impressed with that mouthpiece. I was equally impressed with this one, playing with a Legere 2.25 signature cut was almost effortless. I have had this mouthpiece about a month, and although I’m new to soprano I’ve been playing woodwinds for half of my life, on and off for the last several years though. Clarinet was my main instrument back in my school days which gave me a great place to start when I began doubling on saxophones. I think I may have been content with this mouthpiece for a long time, but I found a killer deal on an Otto Link STM 8* that I couldn’t pass up. Obviously it’s not a perfectly direct comparison due to the different tip opening sizes, facing curves, internal design differences, etc… and I will admit I am an amateur woodwind player, especially in regards to the soprano sax; but this mouthpiece can absolutely trade blows with the much more expensive Otto Link. I have only maybe 30 minutes on the Link vs a month on the Yibuy. The two pieces sound different (the Link is better IMO) but the Yibuy is no slouch, especially for the money! If this is all you can afford for a metal mouthpiece and you’re an amateur, you would be hard pressed to beat this mouthpiece. As stated above, I have no idea about the metal it’s made of which is a little sketchy, and also the ligature and cap are crummy. If you can source a better lig/cap you should still be quite a bit of money ahead vs. the Otto Link.

It's night and day between this and a hard rubber mouthpiece. This makes it sound like a completely different instrument, very vibrant and powerful.

The mouthpiece does look nice and is well finished. The opening is a bit wide so it probably isn't the best option for many players unless all you want to do is play very loud. I ligature that came with it was a bit flimsy but it does work. The mouthpiece cover, while looking good, is clearly too large and doesn't add value. One other issue was I found the opening of the mouthpiece a bit large when putting it on the neck of my sax. I had to put some tape inside of it to get a snug fit. This may not be your experience as my cork on the neck is rather old and worn down. As something to experiment with it was fine given the cost.

I keep coming back to it. And now I'll admit it. I've played for 12 out of 30 years - all four major horns and I've had a lot of mouthpieces - Rousseau, Rascher, Rico, multiple metals, multiple Selmers, Hand finished, Vandoren . . . THIS is BY FAR my all-time favorite mouthpiece. Maybe I got lucky. I don't want to believe that I sound so much better on something that's so much cheaper, but I really do. Play with it - find the right reed - use a softer reed. This thing does work!

I was using the mouthpiece that came with my soprano and I was having unusual issues. I’ve been playing alto for decades so I knew it wasn’t completely me. I purchased this mouthpiece because I knew I wanted something within a particular price point and because I had purchased a similar one for my alto sax. My first impression was great. The way it so easily went into the neck was satisfying. Immediately upon playing to see if I was in tune and yes I was I then went through the paces playing the lowest notes as well as the highest I can play on soprano and it was all effortlessly accomplished. If your ever in a position where you know it’s the mouthpiece you’re using is the problem then before you go spend hundreds of dollars on the trendy and popular brands I dare you to give this one a try.
