  • Easily the best bang for the buck on the market.
Style: LYG-Q800D
I'm going to give an honest review here. I've used various helmets over the years. Older style helmets solid lens, harbor freight auto-darkening, mid range, and top end name brand helmets. This one is probably the best helmet I've ever used, with a couple of asterisks next to that statement. First off, the lens. Clear and untinted with a wide view angle. You can see everything before welding. It gives almost the same view as if you were wearing a motorcycle helmet. It darkens very quickly, and with a range wide enough to weld at almost any amperage with the perfect view. The selection of weld/cut/grind modes seems to be nearly perfect in their function. Easily one of the best lenses and views on the market. This leaves us with the only downside, the strap. Keep in mind, this ain't a major downside. The strap is much better than any cheaper helmet by a wide margin, making it the best bang for the buck. The knobs to tighten it feel just a touch cheap, but work OK, and it is placed in a very slightly awkward place in the helmet. The only time you'll notice this is if you like to wear your band up higher on your helmet, as it'll put the lens close enough to your face when you flip it down to touch your nose. Almost all helmets do this, but even 1/4" of a difference is noticeable when it comes to strap placement. Simple fix, wear the strap lower on your forehead. ... show more

  • Great Product
Style: LYG-Q800D-ME
Great Helmet. Very comparable to more expensive helmets. The 180° field of view is fantastic. There are three panels, but only the middle panel auto-darkens. The outer lens are passive, but once the arc starts I have a very wide field of view.

  • The panoramic view is great !
Style: LYG-Q800D
It’s so comfortable and the auto darkening is great and the panoramic view helps a lot especially for me that I have weak eyes. And the price is great you don’t have to break the bank! I recommend it to anyone who wants a good deal

  • Nice With Caveats
Style: LYG-Q800D
Nice for a hobbyist, not really for constant use. What is a bit annoying is the head harness. It is fiddly to get adjusted. As other reviewers have mentioned, this part of the helmet seems overly complex and likely to break. Getting the lens out to put the supplied battery in is also a very fiddly process. It is connected by a very short wire to the side of the helmet, where there is a knob to adjust the darkness. This makes it hard the get the lens out. On mine, the battery was too low, and the helmet would not work. They did ship an extra battery, once fitted, it powered the helmet just fine. Despite these issues and at this price point it is a pretty good helmet for, say, a home workshop. I don't see it as something a professional would want to use everyday. ... show more

  • My favorite
Style: LYG-Q800D
I've used a lot of helmets over the years. This is by far my favorite. Mig welded some tricky small tubing over the weekend and used this helmet for 3-4 hours. Worked great. The ability to see color instead of shades of green is something you don't appreciate until you use it. The side viewing ports are something i like as it gives you peripheral vision, which I think is a good safety feature. Knob at your left temple makes adjustment of the shade easy over a wide range, even though I didn't really need to use it much once set. This helmet worked so well that I could forget I was wearing it. Very pleased, especially for the price. Both the pre-installed battery and the spare were too low on charge when I received them to activate the lens, but after placing under a bright light overnight, it worked fine. Ordered a few spares anyway. They are cheap. Nice that you get spare outer and inner shields. Nice that you can order a magnifier lens that slides in. Works fine if you wear glasses as well. Also an attractive helmet. Took a little trial and error to get it adjusted properly for my big head, but once I got it, it was comfortable to wear. So I really like the helmet and consider it a good value. No hesitation recommending it to others. ... show more

  • Great Hood So Far
Style: LYG-Q800D-ME
So far it seems like a really nice hood, 1 week used ! I've had all the best, 600$ speed glass xxi, Jackson both of best lenses, a couple millers over the years ! The yeswelder is light, nice head gear, controls are nice, and it's got the side windows like the 3m ! Also I think it's nice 1 big lens covers all the way around front protects everything not just the 6" area in middle. I think the flare on shell on top and bottom help some with diverting sparks from head and chest. Will update after a month ! I've heard mixed feelings on side windows but I think they help with tunnel vision when ur in it all day and I feel like I can just see better all the way around in and after I come out. Maybe your eyes not adjusting back and forth from dark to light or something. ... show more

  • Don't buy. Product batch has faulty sensors. Got arc flash. Happened with 2 dif helmets.
Style: LYG-Q800D-ME
Would be 2stars instead of 1 because the headgear was very comfortable. Do not buy these. Im not sure which production batch the ones I recieved were from. But doing basic lateral welds and basic right infront of me T welds/butt welds as a tig welder. I got arc flash because the sensors were faulty. At first I thought the first one i bought was just a fluke and a messed up faulty sensor. Returned that one and got a replacement. The replacement was incredibly worse than the first. Any arc caused the sensors to freak out and maybe work for a few seconds and cut out during welding. Immediately switched back to my lincoln helmet. I only got this helmet because a friend had it and loved it. Never had any issues or anything with it. His was a year or more older than this one. He does not have the sensor issue. If it wasnt for that this would be a great helmet and price. But im not willing to risk my eyesight for cheap even if its comfortable. Will definitely be getting a refund. ... show more
