The crystal 2. 0 lens has fully automatic shade 4 to 12 Arc brightness detection with Twilight feature to gradually bring the lens back into light state from welding state, reducing eye strain. Optra autopilot automatically adjusts the shade level based on the brightness of the arc or flame. The Auto-Dark lens can also be operated in fully manual mode with infinite shade adjustment between shades 4 and 12 for a custom view of the arc. The crystal 2. 0 welding helmet also has improved true color Technology, which allows for realistic color perception in light or dark States. The crystal 2. 0 has external controls to switch quickly and easily from weld to grind mode and back again. Delay and Sensitivity can also be controlled using the external knobs. True color - The color perception in light state is almost like looking through clear window glass and in dark mode, you enjoy a detailed and high-contrast view of the welding pool with never-seen-before clarity. External lens controls include infinite shade 4 to 12 adjustment, delay and infinite sensitivity Adjustment and allow for Quick switching between weld and grind modes without removing the welding hood. Heat reflecting paint - helps welder stay cooler under the hood. Patented sensor slide allows the detection angle to be reduced from 120° to 60° to prevent the ADF from responding to welding nearby. Patented Exciter perfectly centers the welding helmet when in open position for better comfort, balance and less neck fatigue. Comfort headband quickly and easily adjusts for size, forward position and top Position.

  • Unbelievably good! Everything you've always wanted in a helmet, but didn't know you could get!
Bright, clear 'off' optics, amazingly detailed 'on' optics. I can't claim that I've tried them all, but I can't imagine anything better than this. When you're not arced up, the view is clear and nearly unshaded. It's like looking through your normal safety lens. Arc up and it's still amazing. I don't understand the technology, but I can see everything plain as day - the workpiece, scribe lines, the torch - oh, and the arc! The arc and (TIG) electrode are clearly visible and I can see my standoff distance and the character of the arc. I can't imagine much better. My welding has improved in both comfort and result due to this helmet, I can't recommend it highly enough! ... show more

  • Best Hood I Own!
I have have an Optrel Satellite hood, a Miller Digital Elite hood, the new Miller 2.0 Hood and this Optrel Crystal 2.0. The Optrel is lighter, better view, user friendly. Perfect for any weld job. My favorite of the 4. And it wasn't even the most expensive!

  • Topbclass lighting and good FOV. Smart unit and wide lighting viability.
The one bad I have found so far: I really cant over emphasise how badly I want thisbto be a wide Field of view helmet. It feels cobstricted compared to my demo $70-ish unit. The good, true color more than I ever could have guessed, and I too photos, had my son and wife both check it outbside by side with my other helmets. It really gives true color. How important that really is with welding? Idk, but I do love having it. I know you can toss the helmet up to see but this thing is really smart! It still has a relatively wide Field of view although not ultra wide like some select units. The helmet faceplate has a bevel on it and this keeps it from rolling into granite or concrete and scratching thebface unnecessarily. I have many pics to show the unit as well as I could ... show more

  • A huge upgrade over my Lincoln Viking
I Tig weld for a living, and after borrowing one of these hoods from a co worker for a day, I had to invest in one for myself. It feels far more lightweight than my Lincoln (which I now keep at home for when I'm welding in my shop), the frame feels much more comfortable to wear, and the clarity and shade of the lens makes for much better ability to watch my weld puddles and control my arc. Since several at my work have this same hood with nothing but P-Touch labels with their names on them, I couldn't resist having a friend do some custom airbrush work on the hood itself, so there's no question whose it is if someone wants to try to walk off with it. ... show more

  • Amazing Helmet
I have three helmets including Miller and the Optrel. What's interesting is just how crystal clear looking through the helmet is when not welding. It's amazing. I just got the helmet yesterday, and only tested it out with a few welds. It's as clear as safety glasses. The helmet can be used in either a fully automatic mode or manual. I tried the automatic mode. It worked great. Instead of the usual dark green view of the weld, it's a blue shade. I was able to see the weld significantly better than I could would my more basic Miller welding helmet. It was a pleasure being able to actually see my weld vs a sort of welding in the dark using my other welding helmets. I'm sold. I can't tell you how it compares to other high end helmets as I've never tried them. But this one rocks. ... show more

  • Update! Some good, some bad lots of hype.
The media could not be loaded. Two stars was maybe a bit harsh so I'm updating to three. After a few weeks of use I can give a more educated opinion on this hood. As I stated before and as others have, the auto mode will flash you everytime. Worthless in auto mode. Works fine in manual mode. The clarity is great, but the viewing window is small. After using a Lincoln Viking for years it's disappointing to go to a smaller field of view. Doesn't feel much if any lighter weight either. The headset does come loose quite often and falls down as many other people have mentioned which is sub par for this price range. Obviously they want you to upgrade the headset so they can sell more product. All in all decent hood, overpriced but I do still use it for tig welding. Hopefully this review brings some honesty to the over-rated reviews this hood gets. Quite disappointed with getting flashed everytime I start the arc. It was in auto mode during this vid. Seems better in manual. After the first hour of welding my vision is like I stared at the Sun. Not from too light of shade, from the flashes. As everyone has stated, clarity is great, but getting flashed everytime is a deal breaker. I will spend a little more hood time with it in manual mode before giving up on it. First impression not a good one. ... show more

  • Worth it 100%
Pipwelder by trade and have been using the traditional 2x4 lens and I recently switched to an arconeHD 2x4 and though it was incredible. Then I read about this as I was contemplating the panaramaxx. This is even more incredible in my opinion, the clarity of colors and overall large viewing space has definitely helped me in a great way once I found the right adjustments and positions for my taste. The lightest helmet I've ever used minus the hardhat. I think this helmet would help anything become a better welder. Also two of my coworkers have bought the seintinal and this optrel is leagues better and worth the investment. I highly recommend this and especially to anyone that already deems themselves a good welder. ... show more

  • I paid over $400 for this auto darkening helmet, and I am STILL happy with my purchase!
At the time that I bought this helmet it was the best auto darkening helmet available on the planet earth, and it cost me over $400, which I am still happy about the value for the main reason that you can put this helmet on and it’s no darker than a light pair of sunglasses until it’s needed. During the Covid scare I thought about wearing this helmet around before they more tightly defined the mask requirement, just as a joke because I could see quite well walking along the sidewalk. I also use the grinder feature just to keep metal particles out of my eyes yeah, and you can turn this on and off. The controls are comprehensive and extensive, and it’s solar powered and never needs batteries. I have taken it out of a box where it’s been for months, and with indoor lighting it apparently applied enough electricity to operate the auto darkening instantaneously. The only thing I would add would be the capability to put standard “cheaters“, prescription or plush lenses inside the helmet so I can work more close up. I’m slightly farsighted and could use a +2 lens for close up. ... show more
