This is a decent slam ball, this is NOT a medicine ball which is a completely deferent piece of equipment and many of these bad reviews sound like they thought they were buying a medicine ball. They clearly do not know the difference. This is a great value purchase. It bounces a little more than higher end brands, this could be because it is new, but time will tell. I am not a big fan of the ridges and prefer the smooth outer shell like you see in Crossfit gyms from Rogue, ETE etc., but with the COVID-19 crisis this is the only option I could get delivered in less than 2 months. This design is a copy of the TRX version and maybe the ridges are the same on the TRX, but I find this actually slips out of my hand easier than the smooth designs. I also think this outer shell is thicker than the name brands which seems to make it bounce more and not let the sand absorb the blow. I’ve only used this once so far and hopefully with more use it will loosen up and have less bounce. Overall for the money this is a good value at $20 less than name brands. This is not a good medicine ball because it is NOT a medicine ball. Anyone that complains about the sand and off balance it causes clearly doesn’t know what a slam ball is and should probably try buying a medicine ball. ... show more

Seems to be great quality so far. Remembers kids - this is a slamball, not a medicine. It is designed to deform and not bounce when thrown to the ground. I am a big strong guy (270lb bench press, 400 lb deadlift), and the 40 lb ball was surprisingly difficult to pick up and lift overhead. I honestly think a 30 pounder would have been better for me - I'm using it for HIIT. Pick your weight conservatively! ... show more

YES! My 20 Ibs slam ball arrived one day earlier than predicted by Amazon. This was a life saver!!!! I am one of those ppl that relies on a gym to manage my mental and emotional state. Thanks to COVID-19, my gym is closed 'till further notice'. So, this ball is an attempt to make it until then. I love the ball so far. It came packaged in two boxes. It looked every clean and new. The outer layer appears very durable. It has tread texture (like car tires) and felt thicker than what I am used to. ...and it works perfectly for any kind of conditioning workouts where you need a med ball. I use it for wall balls, slam, med ball pass, push ups, and have no issues with the form or function. The rugged surgface helps to grip it well, esp. with sweaty palms. The weight inside the ball moves around which helps during movements like Clean and Thrusters. This ball is made of a shell, with loosely packed weight inside, when you lift the ball, the weight keeps moving back and forth inside, your hands loose stability as the weight settles more on one side more than the other. Imagine its a ball with 3/4th filled with sand and when you move it the sand keeps moving inside. ... show more

Great slam ball! The tread on this ensures great grasping control BUT can be a little abusive to the hands. Not a problem for most but people with soft/sensitive hands may find uncomfortable to use. No signs of splitting after many uses as well. Overall: Highly recommend and suggest you buy.
