The yarn arm wouldn't stay in place when I was winding the yarn. So I super glued it to stay in place. It's now going to be less annoying.

    • No more knotted yarn!
I have always wanted a yarn ball winder. My yarn tends to get all tangled and knotty or unwound and a mess. Many half used skeins have had to be tossed because they were too knotted and I didn't have the patience for getting the knots out. This winder has made my life SOOOOO much easier- plus, it is fun to use. I had a skein that was starting to unwind and make a mess that I used the winder on. After each ball was wound, I secured it with a rubber band and tucked it away safely. My new nicely wound balls look so lovely, and they knit/crochet up easily as well. You don't encounter the dreaded yarn knots that is lurking deep within the skeins of your normal store bought skeins. I haven't mastered making huge yarn balls yet- I don't even know if you can. But seriously, they look so nice and orderly when wound up. The winder is super easy to use and so relaxing. Just get one and wind up all of your yarn during a binging session on tv. ... show more

I wish it made bigger balls of yarn but it is great for its price! Don’t like how it gets stuck sometimes though and have to restart the ball.

    • It works.
For the most part this works for what I needed it for. The rod did go limp a few times and that was kinda annoying but it worked. I do wish it had a longer part so that I can make a bigger skein.

    • Worth the price, but has its issues
I appreciated that it was decently cheap and came with all of the extra stitch markers and yarn needles. The stitch markers have held up pretty good, but they have a bit of wear and tear from being opened and closed. The yarn winder itself is nice, however, the yarn seems to slip frequently. I haven't had it get unrecoverable amounts of tangled in the gear under the "cone", but it has slipped under and gotten tangled. Usually pretty easy to just take it apart and untangle it, but I wished it was designed in a way that prevented the yarn from slipping. The tension rod is kind of useless on mine as it won't stay locked in place at all (probably why I have such a big issues with yarn slippage.) I'd recommend just ditching the tension rod and holding the tension yourself with your hands. ... show more

Bought this for my 14yr old niece who enjoys crocheting on her free time. She absolutely loves it as the balls of yarn are easier to deal with in the wound up balls this tool produces. It's amusing I'll FaceTime her and she'll be winding yard up as we talk. You can't beat the price.

It's a burning curve the yarn gets stuck easily and takes longer than if you used a nicer one the metal feader thing falls alot

    • It gets the job done
Winds my yarn up just the way I need it, was really simple and quick to use so overall, really user friendly. Another thing is that it’s relatively easy to store due to its small, comfortable size.
