Update: it’s been nearly 3 years, these knives have been through everything from processing down meat. Chopping vegetables for canning and daily use. I usually sharpen them myself but with our family expanding in the last 3 years I found myself without the time to sit and sharpen them. I took them to a professional sharpener of 20+ years experience. I have never received such high praise for a choice in knives. He was thrilled to sharpen them because of the quality and compared them to the quality of some of the professional chefs whose knives he maintains. These knives are a lifetime and if not a lifetime, at least 20-30 year investment. If you maintain them with a steal sharpener between wet stone sharpens you won’t be disappointed. Make sure you use these knives with quality wood cutting boards. These would be knives I would purchase as a wedding gift for someone I truly care about. These knives are sharp enough to shave with, not that I would but they cut through carrots like butter! I have had mine going on 4 months ish and Using the sharpening stone it comes with is pretty simple. I watched quite a few how to videos and techniques before attempting it and even did a practice run with my old cheap knife set. The shears on these are also very sharp and work great. The only knife I don’t really use out of this set is the paring knife.

I had a managery of knives but once I got these they all got thrown out. This is a wonderfull set that I am happy to own. They keep sharpnes and cut through potatos & carrots like butter. Spagetti & butternut squash have their challenges but if you microwave for alloted time the paring knife does a great jub until you get the cheif's knife involved. I believe this was well worth the $$ spent. If you do aolt of food prep these are well worth the money spent.

These appear to be pretty nice for the money. The description was somewhat unclear, but these do appear to be like the other nice ones, with laminated blanks of folded ‘Damascus’ steel from Japan, sandwiching a core/tang (v computer engraved, symmetrical design on the blades). The designs are not symmetrical. Nice presentation if gifting, and these are very sharp - VERY sharp. This is our first set of nicer knives, so no ER visit yet, but I recommend caution...
