Purchased from Amazon resale, likely the bass had been returned by another customer. Well not surprised it was returned. Totally unplayable out of the box. E and A strings touching the fretboard. The neck was bowed backwards. So some setting up to get the neck relief correct and the string height right. Intonation was ok. Once set up it is a very solid bass. Best feature is the total absence of hum and buzz thanks to the humbucker pick ups. The noise off single coil Fender basses (especially the J bass) annoys me especially when used on quiet songs. Will need to explore the active vs passive settings but there seems to be a very wide range of tones available. Not too heavy, well made as expected from Yamaha. Got a good price because the bass came from Amazon retail nearly $200 less than the listed price (which seems to be going up every time I look courtesy no doubt of tariffs). Not sure it’s worth the full price over $700 though. So four stars only because of the terrible set up out of the box. ... show more
