  • It’s Outstanding! My SM7B sounds awesome now!
I’m an aspiring YouTube content creator wanting to improve my sound quality. I took the plunge and purchased the Shure SM7B mic, Focusrite scarlet solo, and the cloudlifter. I wasn’t happy with raw sound quality of this setup, I had to apply a lot tweaking in adobe to make it sound “good” to my ears. My opinion of Good is obviously different than others so take this for what it’s worth. This tweaking was a lot of extra work in post. Tom Buck put out a video asking the question are cloudlifters and fetheads useless now it got my attention. I left a message on his channel and he responded and said I wouldn’t be disappointed with the sound quality of the Rodecaster II Pro. He was right! This thing is awesome! I love the sound of my SM7B now, I recorded a couple voice overs / video and I didn’t have to apply the editing in adobe. (Parametric EQ & multiband compressor settings) Yes this device isn’t cheap, nothing about it is. This is a really nice piece of equipment and I love it. They recently updated the firmware to include a routing tables to allow streamers and creators to tune our mixes however we want them. For example, while gaming I can have music coming over the Bluetooth line in, teamspeak audio on its own channel, specific gaming sounds on its own channel, YouTube on its own channel and my mic channel will only be sending my voice mixed with sound pads etc. this is really cool. I’m not a professional audio engineer nor do I have years of experience with this type of equipment, I’m a noob learning as I go. Improvements: my only complaint so fare is you can create a custom mic setting (which is awesome BTW) but you cannot reopen the setting to inspect/review the setting once you save it). This is a firmware oversight in my opinion that they will hopefully fix. The achieve functionality I mentioned above I plugged both USB channels into my computer. You may have to unplug something else like an external hard drive etc. All in all this is a great device, I love how my mic sounds, and the less work I have to do in Adobe is epic! Hopefully in the future I’ll try streaming and will have mastered this device, second reason I wanted this this. Your mileage may vary, so fare with ride on Rodecaster Pro II has been a blast! ... show more

  • Great piece of equipment but DON'T ORDER FROM AMAZON
This is a really phenomenal bit of kit for someone like me - a streaming hobbyist who likes top-tier gear and is looking for a long-term replacement for a GoXLR now that ecosystem is effectively dead. I especially appreciate the onboard processing capabilities as it is much easier to adjust these on the fly to account for varying sound quality of guests on my stream. Definitely recommend the RodeCaster Pro II (or the Duo, depending upon your setup and budget). Also recommend NOT ordering from Amazon. The delivery experience with Amazon Logistics was absolutely horrific. I was told multiple times by agents and supervisors that they would take care of the issue (repeated instances of drivers failing to follow instructions), only to have the order cancelled mere hours after the last promise of resolution. I was then told to wait another week for the refund to be issued then order a replacement. DO NOT BELIEVE Amazon agents when they tell you they will take care of an issue or call you back to confirm. I'm sure they are all wonderful people but none of them, at least in my case, seemed to be able to actually accomplish anything and they most certainly did not honor their promises to me (to resolve the issue, to call me back, etc.) Recommend ordering directly from Rode or a more reliable company like B&H Photo that actually cares about customers and, when they promise to fix something, will actually follow through. ... show more

  • Standard for beginner/home podcasters?
These are the best mixers for podcasting ever. I originally bought one crappy mixer, but that was a waste of money. All I needed was this. It's all digital with a touch screen, which is good, but sometimes it's hard to dig deep into all of its features because of a lot of it is hidden and hard to access sometimes in the touchscreen UI. I ended up using a Samsung T5 HD usb to record directly to it, for some reason it is very picky on the type of usb HD it can work with, that was really frustrating as it didn't work with my other usb HD, I'm not sure why. Other than that, I love it for it's great compressor and sound quality out of the box. I don't have to tweak much at all. ... show more

  • Takes some getting used to
It was a bit tricky to learn how to utilize this in the goxlr format. But I managed to get my microphone, discord, web pages, and studio monitors all calibrated to their own fader. The amps are crazy good, especially with hd600 headphones. The touch screen is great, the faders have a nice cold touch, and the connections are all in the back of the unit. It was well worth the money. ... show more
