  • Really nice amp with a couple issues
Color: Yellow Style: THR10II Wireless Pattern Name: Amplifier
I bought this after returning the Spark mini. I really liked the tiny, long battery, downloadable tones Spark but the sound was a bit muddy (no big deal for $$ & size) and the app kept disconnecting. Had to return. If the app worked I definitely would have kept it. Was between the Katana air and the THRii for a replacement. I think the Katana was best for me since it includes the wireless transmitter/receiver but the disposable batteries pushed me away. If they ever update with a Li battery then it would be great. I ended up with the THR10ii wireless. Turns out the app connection is even worse than the Spark. Practically useless, read the app reviews on your store. Difference is, the Spark doesn't function without the app and the THR has controls on it. That said the THR10 doesn't have all the controls onboard like the 30 so you do need the app to access 2/3 of the amp tones, compressor, gate, delay. I use the pc app for that through USB, works fine (the USB-B connection seems like a Yamaha engineer joke). You can also load and save tones on the PC then set them to the memory slots and work from there. The reason I am keeping this with a completely non-functional app (which I paid for the BT function) is the sound. It's a really nice sounding small amp. Works great at low volumes and can rip pretty good when you want to. The 30 must be loud! I'm glad I got the 10 though since I was in love with the tiny size of the Spark and this is quite a bit bigger but smaller than the 30. I did add the Line 6 G10 to go fully wireless and it works flawlessly with this. Charges it as well. But, this isn't the way to go if you are focused on bang for your buck in the portable/wireless realm. I'm in it for about $575 with the G10. Seems well built, sounds great, battery is awesome, app useless. It's worth it to me as a basement player but costs way more than other options if budget is key. Hope this helps your decision. I agonized between THR10, THR30, Spark, Spark mini, Katana air. Watched way too many YT videos. We need a next gen Katana! ... show more

  • I love this amp!
Color: Black Style: THR30II Wireless Pattern Name: Amplifier
This is the perfect little home practice amp, especially if you get the wireless bug for your guitar. I normally jam in the living room, but if someone is watching TV when I get the urge to rock out, I just grab my amp & guitar and go somewhere else. No cords to mess with and need to have a power outlet available. Using the phone app you get more control of some tone shaping aspects of the amp that you can't do with the knobs, so that is helpful. And, I love that you can Bluetooth sound from your phone to the amp. I've always been a rhythm player, but since I got this amp I've been having lots of fun practicing guitar solos by sending YouTube backing tracks to the amp and playing along with them. It is a bit expensive, considering that for the same money, you could buy a big, powerfull amp that you could play gigs with, but as convenient as this little amp is, I dont have a single regret about spending the money to buy it, and if I were ever so inclined, the line-outs on it could be used to plug into something big enough for a gig setting. ... show more

  • All you need
Color: Cream Style: THR30II Wireless Pattern Name: Amplifier
Excellent amp. I checked out a number of amp, and Yamaha stand above the rest. 1. The sound quality is excellent. 2. The number of effects is impressive. 3. It is loud enough to perform. If you need more power, you can plug it into a mixer. 4. It has a long battery life, so you don't need an outlet. Think of outdoor jam sessions. 5. Bluetooth is a plus. The price, at least, on the yellow version is the best around. ... show more

  • A daily driver, for me...
Color: Cream Style: THR30II Wireless Pattern Name: Amplifier
Yamaha THR30! I upgraded to the THR30 III (from the previous model THR10x high gain version, that I used almost daily for over 8yrs) mainly because of the built in wireless capability. But this amp is heads and shoulders above every other competitive solution in this same market space. Here is what differentiates this one from the competitors in this space, as the tone with the others is good as well but… with the Yamaha, the tone is fantastic because they’ve done component level modeling to build out their amps, which means you get incredibly accurate modeling. The effects just sweeten the tone that much more. The cabinet models are also very good and broaden the tone options. Then, when you add the wireless capability for both streaming via Bluetooth and then using the Line 6 G10t for wireless guitar with it, just leaves all the others in the dust! The new app! The Yamaha app looks just like the knobs on the top of the amp for the interface. It allows you to adjust it in real time to tweak, then if you want to save it - you can save it to one of the three banks of five patches. Very simple and straightforward to use. Bluetooth! This allows you to stream from your mobile device for either playing along, or just streaming music in stereo. This works amazingly well so you can adjust the volume’s and sound like you’re part of the mix. Wireless guitar! I also bought the Line 6 G10t (optional $99) I can leave the transmitter plugged in to the quarter inch jack as it charges the transmitter while it’s plugged in so it’s always ready to go, and gives me eight hours of playtime. Rechargeable, built in batteries! I can just pick up my guitar, the amp and walk out onto my deck - stream music from my iPad and start jamming. Bass or guitar! I use it for both bass and for guitar and the bass modeling sounds amazing. The bass models sound particularly well, over the previous version of the THR (no bass specific modeling on the old version as it was for guitar). These models are super well-balanced and have a deep rich bass tone. I have saved patches for both bass guitar and for regular six string guitar that I use frequently, actually daily. Recording interface via USB! Okay here’s where this device really shines… I plug this directly in via USB to my iPad Pro 11 inch and record directly into garage band. This is absolutely the easiest USB guitar interface that I’ve ever used. I do have a line 6 sonic port and an IK iRig pro I/O as well but I’ve always found both of them to be a hassle to get them working with my iPad consistently every time. When inspiration hits, I always ended up screwing around with the technology versus using the tools before I can actually record with those other interfaces. With the Yamaha, when inspiration hits, I just plug in the wireless and then USB to the iPad and start recording! The incoming tone from the Yamaha sounds amazing! I use this as a writing tool to capture scratch track ideas quickly into Garage Band and then share the GB project with other musicians so they can record directly into their iPads to add to the song. The Yamaha makes this process easy, effortless, consistent to use every time. 1/4” output on the back! it also has quarter inch outputs on the back for left and right channels if you want to record directly into your mixing board or other analog interface. I use this amp daily for practice and for writing recording, it is second to none and a crucial part of my gear. ... show more

  • Was sent a used item for full price.
Color: Cream Style: THR30II Wireless Pattern Name: Amplifier
I received a used item for full cost. When I opened the box the charge cords were loose in packaging and I found the unit to be fully charged out of the box. I have never received a fully charged item in my life. Yamaha should be ashamed selling used for full price.
