    • Perfect to improve sound from TV speakers
Dialogue was difficult to hear through my 43 inch Samsung TV in the bedroom, so I bought this all in one soundbar. I could hear a marked improvement in sound clarity and particularly dialogue. I was a pleasantly surprised by the level of bass it has, although it won't rock the house. Used an optical cable and connection to the TV was a snap. Used the Yamaha remote for initial sound settings where I boosted both dialogue and bass As a bonus, I found that I can control it using an Xfinity remote which is super convenient. I had originally wanted the Bose TV Speaker, but couldn't justify spending $279. Picked up the Yamaha for $149 on sale on Amazon. For sound enhancement over regular TV speakers, it's a great deal. Just don't expect a wide sound stage or thundering bass. Update 12/9/22: While I still think this is a great soundbar for the money (currently on sale for $130) I ended up returning it. I had set it to the clear dialogue setting. Sometimes it was anything but clear; in some cases the dialougue was very hard to hear or other times it was far too loud. There was just too much inconsistency between shows, movies or commercials especially for a bedroom TV where you don't want sudden loud shifts in dialougue to wake you up when you're dozing off. I did a little more research and ended up getting a Bose Solo 5 which after a few days use seems to suit my needs better. ... show more

    • Perfect desktop monitor solution.
I needed a speaker system to replace the Mackie MR5 monitors that I had been using until I went to a larger computer monitor. A regular sound bar like the Yamaha YAS-10X would be too large for the space. The short C20A uses two 1.8" drivers pointing forward that crossover to a single 3' woofer for bass augmented with two passive radiators. It has HDMI, optical and analog inputs but no USB. I drive mine from the analog out of an Audiogengine D1 but I'm sure any analog source would work. Sound quality is good. Since I use this on a desktop I'm generally sitting in the nearfield. Voices are clear and easily understandable. The high end is there without excessive sibilance. Flat bass response down to 60Hz with good output at 50Hz (measured). While it tries at 40Hz there's no real useful output. So at least as good as most smaller desktop speakers. I think for a big screen full size TV using something from the Yamaha YAS line might be better (I have a 107, it's really pretty good). There is a limit to how loud it will play and a 3" driver is not a subwoofer. For computer use it's great for music listening, game play or YouTube video viewing. Unfortunately, there is no USB input but the analog input is a plus. You can easily hear it across the room but nearfield is best. ... show more

I needed a decent sound bar with reasonable sound quality that was small enough to fit on my TV stand; short enough to fit between the TV base supports and small enough height to not block the bottom of my TV picture. This is definitely it. No - it is not full 5.1 theater sound quality. I don't need that - I already have one of those. But - it turns on and off with the TV; has much better sound than the Samsung TV speakers; has excellent base for it's size; has super clear and loud dialog from the program; and fits neatly and perfectly on my TV stand nestled at the base of the TV.     • Impressive sound and bass from a small package
I’ve been using this for 6 months or so now and it’s been great. Works seamlessly with my tv and Apple TV remote. (I started off with the optical cable, but switched to HDMI eArc which has been better with my Apple TV remote.)

    • Not what I was expecting.
Well I haven't tested the bluetooth or HDMI ports as this is connected to a PC through digital but.... the sound is just ok. There is no real mid-high or high end. Voices are muffled and lack definition. There is just no brightness to the sound. The lower end of the spectrum does sound clean and there is good base for such a little package but that's not what I am into so I keep it turned down. BTW for the fellow nerds yes I checked the output format and confirmed it's 16bit 48Khz. Disappointing that all the glowing reviews were exaggerated. ... show more
