  • What more could you expect for such a great value?
Color: SWIFT BLUE
This is a finally crafted guitar with top shelf, materials, and unique features sense. It is the RSS model with the carbon fiber reinforcements in the neck. The finish of the swift blue is both modern and nostalgic all in one. The quality finish of the pick ups and the fret board along with the chambered body Are as high-quality as any guitar I’ve ever touched or seen. If you watch the reviews concerning this model of guitar, you will see a lot of people say that it punches way above his price point and could go head to head with guitars in the $1500-$2500 range and be right at home. Some people don’t like the five way selector switch, but I’ve never had a problem with it as it feels solid and has distinct clicks. The volume and passive boost button are easy to control and the guitar makes a very unique sound which I feel like as a lot of of sustain and range between tonal sounds. It’s arguably the best buy on the market for any guitar under $1,000 for the standard. Weight: The chamber design keeps it light and avoids neck dive. Looks: The Yamaha RevStar as a mix of modern features with a very retro and vintage look. Finish: They finish and quality are as high level as you could hope to find. Size: The guitar has a very thin and sleek profile, which helps to keep the weight manageable. And the neck dive is nonexistent. ... show more

  • Punches way above its price class
Color: Vintage White
I suppose the commercial success of Fender and Gibson are why this superb Yamaha is so reasonably priced. I read reviews everywhere and knew what to expect before ordering. Those reviewers weren't wrong. I can confirm. This is perhaps the best guitar for all musical styles under $1000. It sounds, plays, and looks like something that should cost about double what it does. The craftsmanship is astounding, especially given that these are assembled in Indonesia instead of Japan. Unfortunately I did have to return the first unit I received. It was damaged on the side of the neck. I was super disappointed about it, but the return was handled professionally and quickly. I wound up ordering the replacement through a local retailer so I could personally inspect the unit before receiving it. This guitar is just so much fun! It seems a lot of people aren't so wild about how the focus switch was implemented, or for the passive-boosted and phased positions 2 and 4 on the pickup selector. I absolutely love all these sounds, and I use them at different times depending on how I'm feeling that day. Do the positions 2 and 4 sound like P90s? I would say probably not, but they sound great nonetheless. They definitely have a different color than positions 1, 3, and 5. I am super happy I stuck with the Humbucker version. With the right settings, the sustain is just incredible. It excels for modern rock type sounds. I play through a Spark 2 amp. The combinations are nearly limitless. It's hard to believe electronic modeling amps sound as good as they do these days! I chose the white Revstar standard. You can see its faint racing stripes, but they're not as obvious as on the other colors. It was either this or the green one for me. In the end I'm happy with my choice. I always look forward to playing this guitar. Its incredible tones keep motivating me to play! ... show more

  • Resonant
Color: Flash Green
This Yamaha Revstar Standard is beautifully crafted. It’s reasonably light in weight. The paint job is beautiful in a Metallic Green with subtle black racing stripes. What struck me is it’s so resonant. The notes really seem to ring out. The neck is very smooth and comfortable. This is supposed to be their mid tier Revstar with the Element below it and the Professional level above it. I don’t know how the Professional can be better. I suppose made from better grade or species of wood? The craftsmanship on this is perfect and it plays so nicely. If the Professional level is in fact better, it can’t be over a $1400 better. That’s the price difference between the Standard and the Professional level. Several people online say the Element is the super deal of the three and maybe it is. I can’t say because I never tried one but I wanted the added features the Standard gave and I feel the difference in money from the Element to the Standard was well worth it. I’m just not seeing how the Professional could be THAT better. I’d like to try one to see but I own several very expensive guitars and this feels right there with them. I wanted to get one of these awhile ago, I just couldn’t choose between the blue or the green. My only wish was that they offered P90s in the racing stripe and tuneomatic bridge. I may have went with that if I did just to get a p90 loaded guitar. ... show more

  • Beautiful and well built
Color: Flash Green
I absolutely love this guitar. The green metallic finish, cream binding, and black racing stripes may not be for everyone, but I dig it. The build quality is excellent and it feels very balanced and playable. The pickups sound great, though I'll agree with other reviews that say the focus switch is a bit of a gimmick. I had to adjust the truss rod and lower the action a bit, but it was very close right out of the box. The included gig bag is also very high quality. ... show more
