  • Great feel, great sound
Color: Black
This piano has more functions/capabilities than I personally need but plays like an acoustic piano, sounds great both through its on board speakers and through my amplifier. Excellent for home use and or on stage which is what I need.

  • Love this Piano!
Color: Black
This piano has been perfect for learning how to play. Sound is great quality and it doesn't take up too much space like a traditional piano.

  • A scaled back CSP-150
Color: Black
This is essentially a CSP-150, with fewer speakers and a downgraded key action. There are two pianos filling the gap between lower end and the Clavinova line of pianos, but only one of those keyboards is actually worth the money. The two models are the P-S500 and the P515. First let me talk about the follow lights, you see I had these lights in a Clavinova CSP-170. While you can play some songs thanks to the notes, it is not proper, reliable, or even a good way to learn the music… In fact the lights are largely horrible! You might be asking, “why do you say the lights are horrible?” Well, they present you with no real sense or timing, note values, or even proper hand positioning. In short, you will follow the lights and not learn a thing from them! They’re the biggest gimmick that Yamaha has put into any piano. I guess you can see where I’m going with this, and why I’m implicating the P-S500 as not being worth the money. Now let’s talk about why the P515 is the keyboard people should be buying and not this one… The P515 has a comparable speaker system to the CSP-150 and it can be made to be as good as the CSP-170 by adding one of 2 sub woofers that Yamaha made compatible with the P515 (the Yamaha NS-SW050 and NS-SW100), this will create the full sound of the speaker box of the Clavinova. The second thing is the Key Action… The P-S500 has a key action that is essentially the same as the one in Yamaha’s now 10 year old P45 and that’s extremely sad considering the price of this unit. The P-515 has the same wooden key action as the CP88 and CSP-170. The NWX has also turned into what Yamaha calls the GrandTouch with wooden keys. This means you can get the same action as digital pianos that are thousands of dollars more expensive, in a $1500 keyboard. The final reason why you should choose the P-515 over the P-S500, is the fact that you’re not paying for gimmicks and you are getting a piano that can be controlled by the smart pianist app. Oh and the bonus, you can find bundles that have the LP-1, L515, and a nice bench with the P515, for about the same price as the P-S500 alone. Add the MD-BT01 and you will get wireless Bluetooth MIDI connectivity for $55. Add the Yamaha NS-SW050 for $179 and you essentially have all the makings of the Clavinova CSP-170 without the gimmicks, for $2300 shipped to your door. So the questions you should ask are… Is it worth trading one of Yamaha’s best actions for the guide lights, while paying more for the piano overall? Or, is it worth spending the extra $3000+ to get the CSP-170 where the only real benefit would be gimmicky lights? If you answered no to both of those questions, then the P515 is the keyboard you should be buying, instead of the P-S500. ... show more

  • Just amazing
Color: Black
I recently decided to try learning the piano again (after many years of not playing) and wanted a solid, good-quality digital keyboard that wouldn't break my budget. I did a ton of research and settled on this Yamaha model and it's so much better than I had hoped for. The keys are firm, weighted and respond so perfectly to touch. I'm taking weekly lessons and am having so much fun. I got it with Yamaha's headphones and Yamaha's foot pedal (sold separately). There are so many keyboards to choose from, but I think I made the right choice. ... show more

  • Learned piano in school. Now, after fifty years I didn't play - playing for the fun
Color: Black
I tried out many models by all the big digital piano makers. I really liked how this one works with iPad and apps to learn the songs I want.
