Very easy to put on. The part that goes on the hood want very clear but easy enough to figure it out. The flat part goes in the rectangle hole on the hood just above the weather stripping. Sure you could use just one as other stated. But why would you? I would rather have them both so it opens even and doesn't put all the strain on the one side. They work Awesome!!!!!! None of the bracket fit correctly had to move almost hole suppose to be a no drill kit which is a lie have to drill 1 hole in the hood it’s a cheap kit but spend the money on a better kit

Works great and the kick stand is no longer in the way. As a matter of fact they work so well that I am only using one shock, the other is in the garage as a replacement.

I hate prop rods! These are great!! I did have a little trouble getting one side snapped into the bracket, but after some persistence, I got it! It’s freaking awesome!! I agree with another review that one would probably do the trick and keep the other for a spare, but I installed both.
