  • Great piano for the money! Highly recommended!
We all know...Ya' get what you pay for. There are digital piano's out there that cost $2000 and up! I just received mine today. I'm very happy with this piano for the money and definitely recommend it for someone who just wants to learn or just wants to have some fun. It's actually more than I expected. Built very solid and good volume which was one of my main concerns. I got rid of my old beat up standard console piano about 10 years ago so I haven't played since then. I'm a little rusty to say the least. I am now retired and have more time on my hand so I'm going to dust off my fingers again and have some fun! If I don't lose interest and continue to play for a year or so, I may sell this one ( or give it to a family member) eventually and get one of those $2000 pianos. I'm sure the action is much better on a more expensive model. Again. Ya' get what you pay for. Or... maybe this one will get me through the rest of my years once I get a little more comfortable with it. By the way Assembly / Set up was super easy. Once I had everything unwrapped, it was about10 minutes all by myself. Enjoy! UPDATE.... Now that I have had this piano for several months, I am enjoying it more than I thought I would. The grace of my chord changes were not as smooth when I first starting playing it but they have actually become much better after some use. My fingers seemed to being "slightly" sticking to the keys at 1st but now they glide on and off noticeably better. Maybe because the natural oils of my fingers are on the keys now? Anyway, give it sometime before you judge it. I love this piano now and am having a lot of fun! ... show more

  • Sounds Great and Feels Like a Real Piano
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this piano for my wife to replace her non-weighted keyboard. It was packaged well and arrived without a blemish. Assembly went very smoothly and only took about 30 minutes. The base is just 4 pieces: The legs, pedal bar, and a backboard and it goes together very easily. You may want to get a helper to lift the keyboard onto the base to save yourself some frustration and avoid dropping it. Donner also includes extra hardware in case you break or lose anything... One thing to know up front is that this thing is heavy. It will take two people or a stair dolly to move the box up stairs. Also, the keys sit about 1 inch lower than our other keyboard (28 inches instead of 29, and a regular piano is 28.5). The piano looks and sounds excellent: It has a more "professional" look than our other plastic keyboard. The lid is a nice touch to keep dust and grime off and out of the keys. Another nice touch is the lid support that keeps the lid from slamming shut. When you shut the lid, it slowly lowers eliminating the chance anyone smashes their fingers. Overall, we are very happy with this piano. We get the real piano feel without the weight (or the need to tune) of an actual upright piano. Since she is the piano player, my wife has some comments on the playability: The black keys feel like real wooden piano keys. When playing, the white keys feel a little weightier than the pianos I've played more recently, but it's easy enough to get used to. The keyboard is a little lower than any keyboard or piano I've ever played on. However, if using a piano bench that is adjustable, that is easily fixed. Even without, the lower height isn't distracting. It's nice having a keyboard that has a fully functional soft pedal and sostenuto pedal (like an actual piano would have). While there are aspects that are not what I expected, I am impressed with the sound, overall size (width, especially) and the look of it. ... show more

  • So far, so good!
So far this piano has not disappointed. It’s beautiful and elegant. The attention to detail is quite nice in regards to the frame, key cover, and the built in music stand. It’s sturdy and the sound is great. It’s sound quality is clear and the keys are weighted. The weight obviously isn’t identical but close enough that I feel confident to play a real piano without trouble adapting. The pedals are well made also and seem to work properly. I’ve had no issues with this piano and the quality is great for the money. The bench is good quality as well. Sturdy, great cushion, and storage compartment is handy. 100% recommend. If I have any issues in the future I will update my review. ... show more

  • Very easy to operate.
This Donner DP 90 is lovely piano. It has no bells and whistles which I realize is exactly what I wanted. I am 77 years old and do not need to be confused by trying to figure out how to work all the extras. The cons I would give it are that the sustain pedal does not sustain the sound as well as it should, holding the sound after lifting fingers off the keys.. Also some of the notes on the higher register sound flat and rather tinny and one of upper keys stays down when played. It is also heavier to play that I am used to on my Yamaha acoustic piano. Other than that, the sound is nice enough. I will see how it is behaving before the return date, and if the few problems become irritating, I may consider returning it. This makes me sad because it is very difficult to find a digital piano with just on/off and volume which this piano has. Update March 9, 2024. Well, I said I would see if the little problems with my piano would begin to irritate me, and they did so I returned it. That was the biggest mistake of my life. I realize now that not having it is worse than living with the irritations that really I could have lived with.. The Donner DDP 90 is a great little piano, very simple to use, with no bells and whistles, just an on/off switch and volume switch. If you just want a basic piano, this is definitely the one to go for. I am so sad that I returned mine. I just want to say to all the people out there, think very hard and be very sure before you return anything, because once it is gone it is gone. Donner Direct is a good company and I'm sure if I had reached out to them about the problems with the piano they would have got back to me and worked with me to resolve the problems. That's what Donner do. Instead I didn't have enough patience and I just returned it. Oh well, it's my loss and I am very sad.. ... show more
