They have excellent build quality, the sound quality is clear, it doesn't provide much in the way of base so if you're looking to rattle your teeth your going to need a sub. I don't really use the volume knob on it I set it once and now just rely on the volume knob on my interface. I had no issues setting them up pretty much plug and play. These speakers are amazing! They have crystal clear sound and ZERO EMF static. There’s not even the slightest hum if no sound is playing. They are real studio grade speakers and are amazing!

I love these little guys. I don't have the desk space for HS5's nor did I want to break the bank again. I've owned HS5's before and these are on par. They don't get as loud but that's about it. Never went over 50% volume on my HS5's anyways and don't even max the volume out on these and trust me These get LOUD. Perfect for my small desk/home studio set up and helps me save room for other hardware. thank you Yamaha for FINALLY releasing a smaller version of my favorite reference monitors! <3 ... show more

Sound is great! I have the 3.5 becuase of limited space. Very clear. Bass is there but will be adding subwoofer. You will not be disappointed.
