This is my husband's first time using a hair clay product, so he can only really compare it to gel or hair spray, but he thought it was a good alternative. It kept his hair soft enough to move and not look stiff, but also give a good amount of hold so that the style he was wanting stayed in place. He likes that it didn't require a huge amount of product to get the desired hold and texture, so it allows you to get more use for your money and makes the product a good value. He also mentioned that he appreciated it not having a very strong fragrance so it doesn't overwhelm him or limit him from using his regular cologne. He just put a bit of the product on his fingertips and worked it through his hair lightly to apply it & then just styled as he normally would. It made for a simple application and even felt a little moisturizing going on. It washes out easily and never flakes or created any dusting while he had it in his hair. He doesn't require a lot of teturing look for his desired style or a very firm hold, but he thought it would be a good alternative for those who do look for that.

I’ve used this a few times now, and it gives a solid hold without making my hair look greasy or stiff. You don't need a lot of this. I lift some cream by running my finger over, letting some cream stick to my fingertip and then lightly dilute it by rubbing it with generously wet hands... When I don't see any leftover white crean I proceed to pass it to my hair. It does the job very well, and doesn't look too evident that you have something on your hair. It has some giant fragrance, but any perfume will overpower it. It doesn't shine (if you are looking for a permanent "wet hair effect" this is not it), and it can hold the hair shape very efficiently. I never noticed any difference when washing my hair, it just comes right off with water and shampoo.

This Xyloglyph Hair Clay for Men is a solid product that does exactly what it promises. I was initially a little hesitant about the word “clay,” since I had never used a clay styling product before. Once I tried it, though, I found it very easy to work with. Using a small amount on damp hands before applying it to my hair helps it spread evenly and style easily. A little goes a long way, especially with shorter hair. I also appreciate the matte finish. It provides hold without adding shine, so my hair still looks natural while staying in place throughout the day. The only reason I removed one star is the scent. Whenever possible, I prefer unscented products because fragrances from shampoo, conditioner, and other grooming products can easily become overwhelming when combined. This would be a home run if it were unscented. Even so, it is still a good, reliable styling product.
