  • Perfect small form factor for my XR18 IEM rig
Size: Four receiver plus one transmitter
I got this as part of an IEM rig I built for our small church. I wanted to build a small, portable IEM rig and the small form factor of the xvive u4 is perfect. As you can see in the picture, I just plug it in directly into the XR18. Inside the rig, we are using wireless mics and a wifi router for the XR18. I have not experienced any signal interference so far even though it is plugged in directly. Of course, if signal interference is an issue, I can just use an XLR cable to move the transmitter away from the rig and closer to the singers but it has been okay just plugged in directly. For the functionality and the price, this is a great tool and an amazing value for small church teams that need wireless capabilities. ... show more

  • Acceptable for small venues and rehearsals
Size: One receiver plus one transmitter
I purchased the XVive In-Ear Monitor Wireless System because at my church, we moved to the Allen Heath ME500 Person Mixers for monitoring during live performances and removed most of the wedges to reduce clutter. Since I move around too much for wired in ear monitoring, I needed a reliable wireless solution. I selected the XVive because of the price point and some positive reviews right here on Amazon. What I found was an acceptable solution, not a perfect solution. The kit comes with a transmitter with an XLR input connector as well as an XLR to 1/4 inch phone plug adapter; the adapter was needed to interface with the Allen Heath ME500. It also includes a receiver that accepts 1/8 in phone plugs for earbuds and has a fairly tight belt clip. In other words, it is not a completely wireless earpiece but removes the tethering. The system provides the ability to manually select up to six different channels as well as input signal level selection on the transmitter and a volume control on the receiver. Also included is a single USB charging cable that is bifurcated so it can charge both transmitter and receiver simultaneously. The upside to the system is that with the correct channel selected and both transmitter and receiver fully charged, I get a good in-ear monitoring performance for the duration of a church service with no noticeable latency. I am able to adjust the volume in an instant using a single finger to roll the control. The down side is that there might be interference in some of the channels due to other devices such as cell phones competing on the same frequency. Selecting a channel is easy enough once you get used to how long to hold the channel selector button on both the transmitter and reciever, but that process needs to be done while you are positioned next to the transmitter and receiver. This can be inconvenient if during the course of a performance, the need to select a different channel is required and you are not adjacent to the transmitter. Having gotten used to very high quality wireless system for microphones and other musical instruments, this is a definite challenge as the more advanced (and expensive) systems automatically detect interference and change channels as required. Since the system specifications are for a maximum of 5 hours of battery life, I found it imperative to fully charge the system before every service. I did find that 30 feet was about the limit the transmitter and receiver could be separated during a performance. At that distance, there was a likelihood of dropout after about two hours of use. My assumption is that this is because the batteries lose their ability to deliver constant power over time as the battery is drained. Considering the few quirks of the system and this particular use case, this product was worth the price. If I were to require in-ear monitoring in a large venue with other competing wireless systems of the same or type or in the same frequency band, this would probably not cut it. ... show more

  • Does its job
Size: CU4
Had originally thought to just use the box the U4 components came in. It worked O.K. till I turned the box upside down to get into the bottom and the components fell out, TWICE. This lead me to buy the actual carrying case. No more falling out. Want to protect the investment. I do wish the top compartment was a little bit deeper. A good purchase otherwise. ... show more

  • Super Clear Audio, almost the same as using a wired connection
Size: One receiver plus one transmitter
This thing is the real deal. Ive use psm 900's and 300's, senheiser, and my current cheap wireless iem system the phoenyx psm-10. Although not stereo, this thing is amazing! No noise, and swapping from my headphone cable to this on my Aviom with my Westone ampro x30's, the audio quality was the same, although I did need to turn up the aviom just a bit to match volume. Pro: Super clear flat audio to my ears that sound just as clear as the Psm 900 I use at a local venue, tons of volume on tap at the receiver unit. Great lows and highs, and no pops or noise. Cons, when used with a wireless soundboard (in my case a Soundcraft Ui24r) these will knock out the wifi on the mixer. You need to make sure your mixer is set to use 5g wifi and not 2.4, although you really should use a router with any wireless soundboard and not the built in wifi for best results. Another con maybe the fact that it is Mono audio, but thats what the unit is so, know that you wont be able to pan things left and right in your ears. Overall a great unit that is way better than what it could be, and I'm happy about that. It really is a crazy clear great sounding wireless iem system. ... show more
