Ignore the silly personal, no experience reviews people. You guys I did 12 holes with this, started literally the second FIRST TIME USE pull. Let er warm up and went at it. TAKE NOTE, it rained about a day before... I'm in Texas and not red, but nothing but pure BLACK CLAY as hard as it can get. Garbled that mud up like it was a frosty from Wendy's. I hit BIG roots(old tree removed) and it ended up trying to spin throw me to the house next door. Suckers got some TORQUE! Never once shut off. Never once got "real hot". For each hole I did, 4 pick-up and throttle pop to empty the bit and back down. Done with the hole (2ft)... 2-3 minutes TOPS! I was hitting some big beefy roots too(2+ inches) and it cuts the little ones like old rubber bands. It don't "overheat", it' does not "die out", the exhaust is NOT in your face(if you are left handed, learn to use your right or figure out how to move the throttle to the left side). The bit on the auger bit stayed put, the gearbox is shipped full of oil so there's no "gearbox being empty" and all the negative jazz with the one stars. If you got your mix right the first time, you won't have heating problems. If you are not trying to drill through rocks ON PURPOSE, you won't have blade issues. If you are not trying to open the gearbox and forget to fill it back up, you won't have gearbox issues. ALL of these 1 star reviews are pure negative and should be considered slander and taken down as good as this is. This is by far the best investment I've ever made and I'm about to use it again on a Trex deck job, 8 more 2 footers. Whoever is smack talking about this PURELY has no experience at all like this other video where dude is bouncing on it.. THE ONLY TWO DOWNFALLS: The torque and vibrations of this is pretty high both ways which I LOVE, what I dislike is the fact there's no rubber on the handles so when this sucker constantly torquing out, it burned in some calyist literally under both pinkie fingers LOL... wear gloves or figure out a way to add some rubber on the handles and strong padding. This is NOT made for soft hands. at all lol. Literally that's about it on the downfalls, overall I'm super happy and pleased with this. NOTE FOR NEW USERS: - You CANNOT simply start it and fire off the throttle 100% off the bat on cold-starts. It's a two stroke, give it a minute to warm up THEN you can have at it. Use it at low speeds in the beginning and THEN you can crank it up on throttle. - It's not a 244hp 30 man auger you're shopping for power, stop putting your body weight on it to force it down. The 55cc is PLENTY enough and that's not even had half throttle, let the bit to the work. Only takes not even 8% of body weight to get this to dig it. You want the bit to shear the dirt not literally drill through it. - There's a comment on here that he mentions about "when i was trying to drill through rocks" ... Please people, don't do that, augers of this type are not meant for making holes in flagstone. If you doing it on purpose, don't one star this seller over it. - You CANNOT try and shove down 2 foot in one swoop. You'll have to let off the throttle, lift it up straight, turn to the side away from the hole and give it a little blip on the throttle to empty the bit. Even the industrial augers with the hydro action have to pull out every so often. Don't rush! - if you know you have rocks and big roots, no need to one star the seller. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE, that's not the sellers fault if you get it and it breaks over drilling through a hidden driveway you knew about. Thanks about it guys/gals. If you are looking for an auger that meets directly between power, price and efficiency, this is the one!

FYI I had a bit of a time with this - if anyone looks the listing actually says 50:10. Which I assumed was a typo for 50:1. Now when I got the device I then went to the website that says 50:1. Yet in the manual for it it says 25:1. So I then tried to call customer support and they have NO live customer support at all. just a phone number that just loops through pointing you to an e-mail. So I got this a week ago bvut just now get to try it out. "This item already has grease in the gear box, the only thing you need to do is add the 2-stroke oil to the fuel in a 25:1 ratio for the first 10 hours of run time. After the break in period you can go to a 50:1 ratio. When needed during servicing you can fill the grease with a multipurpose grease through the grease zirc fitting." Will change the star rating accordingly after use but already lost a star due to unclear instructions.

This might actually be one of the best buys we have made on Amazon. We were struggling with an older borrowed gas powered auger and it was miserable going. My wife and I are building horse stalls in a 48' x 30' barn we had built in December. We are using 4" x 6" x 10' sunk two feet in concrete to form the posts of the stalls. We were looking at 3+ hours to dig a hole, chisel it out down to 2' with a 16# post hole digger, set the post, mix and pour the concrete. Enter the Xtremepower 55CC monster. Took it out of the box, checked out the manual to make sure I wasn't a complete moron. Mixed the gas and oil to the proper ratio. Attached the bit. Primed the pump a few times and with a few pulls of the cord it was singing along. The first thing I noticed was the beefy bit - we used the 12" to start. Previous digging could be described as anemic at best - a lot of practically sitting on the old auger to get it to bite into the ground. What took hours before literally was over in 30 seconds. My wife and I were astonished and felt a bit cheated by the last 5 posts we installed breaking our backs. We initially were trying to accomplish setting ONE post per day (after work). We had the last two holes dug and posts set with concrete in 45 minutes. The longest part now was getting the posts perfectly square and lined up with the other ones. My only regret was not buying this rock star before we set out to build our horse stalls. We have only used it today but have a full day lined up tomorrow of digging fence posts and I am confident it will go smoothly!

I was nervous given some of the bad experiences other people had, but I have been nothing but pleased with this auger. I just moved to AL, and with thick damp clay, this thing churned right through it. Some of the rocks I hit brought the blade to a halt, but I found that if I kept the gas on slightly as I pulled the auger up I could loosen them enough to pull them out by hand. Key notes for anyone in edge -it comes with a container that has lines for missing the fuel. Simple to use, just be sure you look at the section for 30:1 fuel mixture, cause it also has 40:1 and 50:1 on it -the gas and engine kill switch do feel a little cheap, but I never had any issue with them not working correctly -the 8 inch blade was solid and after hitting multiple rocks, besides the expected cosmetic wear, there is no visible damage -the provided instructions aren't comprehensive at all. The only useful information I got out of them is to make sure I use the correct fuel mixture. -side note on the instructions, it says to use the provided switch to lock the throttle at half way for when doing a cold start. I was at fault for this, but after having the thing spin wildly out of control, I opt to start it without the lock on -after priming and choking, it usually took no more than 5 pulls to get it going, and it ran smooth. It doesn't stall out when idling So I was nervous at first and took the risk since this engine is bigger than what my local Lowe's/Home Depot had to offer, and I've been entirely pleased with my decision
