The xTool D1 Pro has been a relatively easy and very fun tool to use. I am always finding new things to do with it. I was able to assemble it and have it working in about an hour. There was a slight issue with the laser module out of the box, but customer service was very responsive and able to resolve the issue quickly. This isn't the cheapest laser cutter on the market, but it's also no "cheap". Well constructed materials and doesn't feel like it's going to break on me after near constant use over the course of a month. In that month I was also able to sell things made on the xTool and recoup about 20% of my investment. With a little more effort it will have paid for itself before long! ... show more

Xtool D1 Pro came beautifully packaged with really helpful manuals and accessory tool kit. Even included sample materials and some lubricant, I assume for the guide rails, which BTW are steel, not plastic. Which brings me to comment on how well the D1 Pro is built, really solid and very good looking. I got the golden red one. It was easy to set up and the free software downloaded from Xtool is all you need. Since I bought my machine Xtool has upgraded the software to the point I do not feel I need to purchase any other software because the xTool Creative Space doe everything I need it to do. I bought the 5 watt but since its easy to upgrade, I also purchased the Infra red module from xTool which can engrave on metal. xTool's support has been phenomenal. they always respond to my inquiries. I had a really old Mac Book that had issues running Creative Space but they helped me out and no more issues. BTW Creative Space now runs wirelessly on iPads and iPhones so you don't even need a computer anymore. The best part is that the machine has literally paid for its self. Actually more than paid for its self. There is a huge market out there for all the things you can make with this laser. I'm having a ball creating things with my new machine. ... show more

This thing is so Awesome. My first ever laser and it is so cool to play with. Loads of group support and how to videos. I wasn’t sure if I would be smart enough to run it but it was pretty easy to put together and make your first burns. I’m going to get a 20w next.

This was my first purchase in the world of laser engraving, and it is so worth the price of entry! The D1 5 Watt laser easily engraves wood, slate, glass and even stainless steel! There are helpful videos to help with setup, and customer service is helpful and responsive. I've since purchased a 2nd laser to keep at our vacation home. UDATE: After being contacted by the company, I was asked to return it and they would refund my money. Except I have yet to receive my refund and the company has stopped responding to my messeges. have been researching laser cutters for a couple months now, I decided to go with xtool because it seemed like a quality brand. Unfortunately, after receiving my package today and spending a little over an hour building the D1 Pro. I cannot get it to start. I have followed all the steps, triple checked my connections, and nothing works. I also did not receive height extenders for the the legs and from the pictures I was under the impression they were supposed to be included. So that was also frustrating. Very dissapointing because I couldn't wait to start playing around with this laser engraver... will be returning. ... show more

Instructions for assembly were a little lacking, especially for someone who had never used a laser engraving machine before. Fortunately there were vids on-line that helped. Using the machine was a lot simpler, and was pretty idiot proof. I was somewhat disappointed that the description didn't represent reality. System doesn't allow use on leather, although the description said this was a surface that could be used. The wider and more defined image lines seem to work better than images with finer lines. I used different types of wood and found that the darker woods seem to create the best images. The photos show how well the skull, octopus, and tiger head were defined. The second photo slaws the same for the lion. The catfish was okay, but the train engine wasn't as well defined. Overall I'm pleased with how well this has worked. I've got some projects that I want to do and this should do the trick. Since I'm probably going to use it for mostly wood engraving it'll get the job done. ... show more
