I’ve been using this for a year now and it works really well especially for the price. The framing is very sturdy and the product is well made. It’s not perfect, as I had to replace the motherboard, but xtool customer service was good to work with and they sent me a replacement. The xtool software continues to get helpful updates. The media could not be loaded. Updated review 1yr 2mos later: Nothing but 5 stars and high accolades for the D1 pro 20 W with the extension kit and air assist. after using this for a little over a year, I’ve been able to cut and engrave dozens of items that have gone into other projects, and some gifts for friends and family. The updates to the creative space software have been really good and they continue to get better and better overtime. I prefer to use it over light burn it as it’s just quicker for me to get in and get in and cut quickly. XT Support has been super responsive and really amazing with any issues I had early on. The first head that I got had a couple of issues with focusing and they quickly replaced it and I was back up and running in no time. At this point, I would say very HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! If you are looking at a home desktop, laser looked no further. The X tool products have been really quite fantastic that I’ve owned. I’m probably at a point where I really should upgrade to the P2 CO2 laser for some of the needs I have… but for me, for now, it’s still a little bit too pricey. Maybe they’ll have a fantastic sale which will cause me to buy one soon :-) Updated review September 7: Update from 1 start to 4 stars BIG improvements After a firmware update and a software update for their new studio software the laser has turned out to be pretty amazing. I think there is still a ton of work to do on the software, they’re trying to make it much easier to use but the settings are not completely clear yet. I’m also using Lightburn but Lightburn doesn’t seem to recognize the profiles that I imported and it really cuts inconsistent and super wide, not sure why it’s doing that and I really don’t have the time to troubleshoot it right now. Check out the photos I am able to cut hardwood very precisely and it cuts fairly quickly! That is 3/8” hard maple and purpleheart which both cut really well. I also took the time to build out the enclosure with a Laser safety glass on top, a multi power supply to turn on each component independently and proper ventilation along with lighting inside the box. Original 1 star review: With the original D1 10 W, I have not gotten the new size boundaries to be accepted by the D1. It’s setup in Lightburn for the laser but the laser head does not recognize it and that’s due to the software firmware update that’s required. It was stated that you have to use the new software to update the firmware on the original D1 10 w but this fails every time as it’s not recognized within that software. I open the support case with XTool and got zero response from them. So if I put my original D1 back together and purchased a new D1 pro 20w and installed the extensions on that laser. But I’m having many problems with it… keeps detecting a fire when I just do framing and the laser is not even engaged so the software appears to be super super super buggy and has pretty much halted production for me at this point. ... show more

Great product for small business and beginers. Xtool have a great customer service. You should buy the machine and some accesories for better results (Honeycomb, enclosure and air assist). Totally recomend it!

I bought this machine as a bundle, at first it’s very complicated to put the machine together also good chance of breaking stuff while you’re connecting the wires together. After having hard time with assembly, the machine wouldn’t connect to my Mac or windows so I called so called customer service and their response was : You have to email your issue to china factory and wait for their response !!! This isn’t a $200-$300 machine, feel like for a machine this expensive they have to have live support rather than email to china for every issue you face in middle of job and wait for their response if they understood your issue in email in first place. Definitely not recommended ... show more

    • Second Time A Charm!!

I have revised my review. Originally, I found the unit to have several problems (see below) and after reviewing honestly and accordingly. I was disappointed, because IF this unit was all the listing claims, that would be REALLY cool. The seller reached out to me and helped exchange the problem part of the unit. After working with the replaced part, I found the performance to be much more in line with what I expected and as all the cool online videos show. YES. I can honestly say It NOW cuts through 1/2" plywood and 3/4 Cedar without alarming and it homes itself without locking up. Note: This is WITH the use of an air assist. No more pausing and dumping USB and. For whatever reason, the unit I originally got had issues and they were solved with an exchange. Original Review: I fell for the cool online videos showing it cut through 1/2" plywood and etch out a photo in record time. It looks great, but in operation it was far from practical. Software is buggy. Photos print with irregular margins, the flame detector kept going off with an annoying beep, and occasionally it would just stop. Worst yet was that I could not get it to home at all. It would move to the limit switch and trigger itself. Frustrating! Seller was not able to help but kept asking for video which is not allowed on Amazon. ... show more
