    • 1 Year Warranty......with no obvious way to obtain service
Well, I just received the XPV AUTO 2500lbs Electric Winch 12V. It came in a simple cardboard box with preformed styrofoam for packing it! At this point, I have just unpacked it and inspected it! It seems to be a sturdy unit, but I did want to share a couple of points that concern me: - The instructions say that the unit comes with an in-line circuit breaker. The wiring schematic even shows it located between the remote control and the battery it is connected to. Unfortunately, there is NOT one included with my unit. The instructions also do not provide what amps or type the circuit breaker is supposed to be, so I don't know what I need if I decide to purchase one. - The unit says it has a one year warranty. The only problem is the instructions give no contact information for warranty service.....NONE! The instructions simply say to "Email our technical support to your online seller". I presume that would be Amazon and Amazon only warranties their purchases for 30 days. So, I'm betting this is really a 30 day warranty. - The instructions themselves are not very succinct or accurate. As an example, the schematic for hooking up the unit shows only red and black wires. In essence, there are red, black, blue, and yellow wires. I will have to take a chance that the red and black go to the positive and negative, respectively, on the battery. But, then, the yellow and black go to the winch terminals in what order? (Oh, I will call support! But then again, there is no support email address/phone available.) I am already concerned about this unit for the above reasons! Should I keep this unit, I will update at a later time! ... show more

So. I needed a small winch to help lord a project car on a trailer. The front tires would not hold air so that added to the stress. Used a double receiver hitch and a hitch plate. This little winch pull that car up and never looked back. I have to say when it was going up the ramps I let off the butting and it actually did not hold the car but allowed it to roll back. I just had to hold the button and watch it work. I wish the remote was not in the line of cable shot if it were to have a failure. But all in all this bugger did a great job for the money. ... show more

    • Need speed nut skills and tools
Update 20231002 - 2k pound UTV had frame/underbody stuck with atop a trail head entrance hill peak. Tires could not get traction and spun dirt into ruts. Tried to use winch (without pulley/block) and it barely pulled about 1/4" maybe 1/2" and then stopped - no sound, just wouldn't try. Wired direct to battery with engine running. This winch probably does great on fully rolling UTV (and it does) but under duress, well I wouldn't bet anything on this winch. It sputtered out on me. I am going to replace it with another brand and higher weight rating. Original post: In order to run winch line/clasp through roller head cylinders you must remove speed nut causing damage scratches unless you have proper tools. Should have come preassembled OEM!!!!!! Took me an hour with needlenose pliers, regular pliers, screwdriver to get the speed nut off. 3/5 stars for poor ease of installation and paint damage. ... show more
