  • Looks like it's going to be a great product
Size: 20’8″ (incl. 3 adhesives)
Looking at the three rating features the easiest to rate is the Installation, which I'm giving 4 stars, although it could be five but for 1 issue. Firstly, the door threshold arrives rolled up in a box, no problems there along with the adhesive, 3 tubes in this case. When I first unrolled the threshold, I noted that the last part was curled to a really small diameter, it is the end of the overall 20 foot piece so it’s going to have a smaller diameter. This does however result is an issue. I laid the threshold flat and waited a couple of days. Unfortunately, the curled end was still not laying flat. I tried using a heavy duty heat gun to see if that would help, unfortunately it was no help. Now, fortunately this product is made in the UK, and it’s actual dimensions are metric. So, it turns out that the 20-foot 8 inch threshold I bought was actually just over 22 feet long. Problem solved, cut of the extra curled material and it’s perfectly flat, excellent. Now as to cutting the threshold, the instruction recommend a hack saw or utility knife. As the threshold is 30 mm thick I figured it might be a little much for your basic utility knife. But it does work thought it requires multiple passes. The hacksaw didn’t work as well as I’d have liked as the cut is pretty rough. I also found a great solution in an oscillating saw with a scraper blade. Easy cutting and you have great control. I cut notches in the threshold for the door rails and using a combination of the utility knife and oscillating saw. Also, I used a chalk line to mark the position of the threshold edges prior to putting down the adhesive. As a note, to ensure better adhesion I pressure washed the area where I’d be applying the adhesive. The one strike against the product was the adhesive. This looks like it’s going to be a great adhesive, however the application of the adhesive is difficult. I followed the instructions regarding cutting the cartridge and nozzle but getting the product to flow out of the tube took an extreme amount of effort. I’ve never had to use as much force to expel a material from a cartridge. So, as far as I’m concerned this is a minor problem. Maybe if you have a pneumatic caulking tool it wouldn’t be an issue. I checked the use by dates just on a chance that the product was old but the “use by” date was over a year off. The actual installation, laying the threshold down in the mastic went smooth with no issues. Once it was all in place I closed the garage door to keep the threshold in good contact with the floor and ensure it stayed in place. I’m giving Adhesion 5 stars. It’s been 24 hours since I laid down the threshold and it appears to be well secured. I scuffed my foot over the threshold and it didn’t move. I then backed our car out and then back over the threshold and there was no apparent movement. So I’d say it’s well secured. I’m not rating Durability at this time as the threshold hasn’t been down long enough to make such an assessment. I’ll provide an update to this review in a few months. I’m going to be really interested in the product’s durability as we have a full size electric vehicle which has a curb weight of 5,600 pounds. So, in summary, at least to date, I’m giving the Weather Defender XL Garage Door Threshold Floor Seal 5 stars. It appears to be a great product. ... show more

  • Good quality product although challenging to install
Size: 20’8″ (incl. 3 adhesives)
The product is strong and durable and keeps water and debris from entering. The coiled shipping methodology causes the strip to be difficult to lay out flat. I used a heat gun to slowly get the coil to lay flat although the product has a memory so it wants to roll back up. Gluing the strip was a challenge as the strip kept popping off the glue surface. This is a combination of factors being the density of the strip and a glue that just is not tacky enough. The manufacturer can improve the product by adding softeners to the strip's formula so that it is more pliable and easier to work with. It needs to lay down easier. Secondly, the manufacturer should supply a glue that is much more tacky and sets more quickly. ... show more

  • Good product, but not enough adhesive
Size: 10'6" (incl. 1 adhesive)
This is an excellent product but it does not come with enough adhesive to cover the entire strip.

  • Great product
Size: 10'6" (incl. 1 adhesive)
Because the product is adaptable to multiple types of garage doors and applications, it took a while to figure out which installation to use. Once figured out it was easy to install. Product appears to be very durable/thick. Still had water seepage after install. Went back and sealed edges with adhesive. Problem solved. Adhesive sent with product was different brand than advertised but worked ok. Need to put generous amount of adhesive. ... show more

  • If you need it, you need it.
Size: 16'5'' (incl. 2 adhesives)
My suggestions: After you read the instructions, which is easy, when you go to place the rubber seal under your garage door pull the rubber seal into the garage a little farther so the garage door can close a little more then push it back after the door closes to make sure the seal is good. Then mark where it is at before moving it. Just don't push the door out. You can turn off the lights inside to see where the garage door isn't sealed well. Also, if you're garage isn't flat then you may want to put weights on the rubber. Using extra glue near the rubber's edges so it starts to squish out after it is weighed down really helped seal it for us. It is easy to cut the extra glue off later. Good luck and enjoy the bump. ... show more
