First off, fit and finish are top notch, it’s clean and looks of high quality. Comes well packaged, instructions are clear enough, and there is some mounting hardware included; however, depending on your application you might need to take a trip to your local big box store and get something different. In my case, I mounted it to drywall with no studs to mount into, so I found some high quality #10 drywall anchors/screws at HD and they served me well. Here’s why I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, the pictures are misleading as the actual storage size inside is limited. I have a Glock 17 with a WML and that’s about all I have room for inside the case. Now with that said, what you do have inside is nice foam padding, again like the exterior the interior has an awesome quality finish. If you need a nice looking storage box to safely store your firearm away from children or others you can’t go wrong with this case. It’s not a gun safe and it is not pry proof but it does provide a layer of protection you wouldn’t otherwise have keeping it in dresser drawer or on some shelf in your closest. Bottom line, for the money this is a very high quality product with awesome fit/finish. ... show more

This was something I've wanted for a while. It's not like a must have, just a want. I put mine near the front door to store gun, keys other valuables when I'm not occupying the living room (or not home). It looks nice, durable, easy to mount, and performs all functions as advertised. I was surprised it read my print as well as it did. If fact so good, you wont use the code you programed into it and will forget it! :-) Easy to program with good padding on the inside, nice coated finish on the outside. If I had to nit pick about something, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - the battery assembly appears a little difficult to remove. in doing so, if you use a tool to grab or pri it out, you could easily snap the solder connection on the battery assembly. I thought this happened to me but did not. I can see how a little more force would have damaged it (the battery assembly / when removing). Be careful! Oh, last thing..... I use magnets all over my house. This cabinet attracts magnets great. I've already attached to selves to it (with magnets). Easy on / Easy off - lots of pocket storage. Oh and anther thing - I really appreciate the inside light that comes on when door is open. And they were smart enough to turn the light off after about 2-3 minutes if you leave the door open (like I do most the time I'm home) ... show more

I mounted mine under my bathroom sink to store my CCW handgun at night to prevent my children from accessing my handgun when I am not carrying it. The fingerprint reader works great and allows for super fast access. I really like this feature. The lighting is also ample to be able to see what's inside when open in a dark room. Sturdy enough for $100(can be opened with a few tools) Biometrics work 85% of time with 15 prints used on each thumb.(advertising says 1 out of 1,000) Nice cushy interior. The retaining cable snapped within 50 opens. If you mount this to a wall I advise you to catch the falling flap instead of relying on the steel wire to take the force. Update. XDeer contacted me and is sending replacement retention cables. I love when a company stands by their product. Thanks guys! Would recommend increasing the durability of those cables though(maybe one Looped piece instead of clamps.) ... show more

    • Just what we wanted
With little ones running around we wanted something that could secure a handgun with rapid access. Storing in a safe requires time to access if needed. This allows the firearm to be positioned in a more convenient location and allows to for rapid access even in the dark. The default beep is rather loud, but after reading the instructions it was easy to turn off. So now the only sound is the lock disengaging and door opening. ... show more

Easy to install and a great safe. The fingerprint release is super fast. Like a tenth of a second. The code release works very fast as well it just takes longer to punch digits in vs using your digit for the fingerprint reader. I highly recommend XDeer! They offer a really well-made product at a reasonable price. I'm going to buy a bigger safe soon and it will also be XDeer. ... show more

    • Good, Very Budget Conscious Safe
I have two VAULTEK Safe’s I like a lot even though they are way over-engineered. But I wanted a wall safe for a specific section of my house - and this was the only safe I could find. Pleasantly surprised. Half the price of VAULTEK but the biometric scanner seems to work a lot better. The keypad is easy to program. Simple installation. One thing I actually do like a lot is that XDeer uses regular batteries (AAA) instead of USB rechargeable batteries, which means you don’t have to worry about hunting down a replacement LI-ON battery in five to ten years. Biggest issue is sizing. This will hold a full sized handgun but if you had spare magazines to the mag holder it’s a really tight fit. I doubt very much that you could accommodate 15 or 19 round magazines either (not an issue for me because I live in California). If you plan on staging a full sized pistol in this safe, I wouldn’t but on extra mags. Really could have been solved by making the safe a bit deeper and a bit wider. The safe also doesn’t open fast, but because of the clearances does take an extra few seconds to clear the safe. Add in more time if you keep magazines in the mag pouch. If you are planning to use this as a main line of home defense - keep it in mind. But also a lot of these issues go away if you just opt to stage a sub-compact or micro 9mm in the safe. Personally, I’d still opt for a slider safe if I wanted something I could access fast - like in a bedroom at night during a burglary. But that wasn’t my use case and this works just fine for what I wanted. ... show more
