It's a foldable drone, which is super smart. I can just fold it up really small, and it fits right into my backpack. This means I can take it anywhere, or even when we go on family trips. The media could not be loaded. Update: This product is not ready to fly over water. It is not predictable and has no way to set a minimum safe flying altitude. It gets violent tossed around when water is anything but glassy smooth and flat. Follows great over land and has great camera/video. I bought this as another way to film Hybrid Foil Surfing for my Youtube channel. What was once a luxury is now in the daily tool kit. I have been using a Insta360 X5, GH7, Soloshot3+, a Mavic 2 Zoom, and multiple Gopro Heroes to film. I have tried follow features with the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom and it did not inspire enough confidence to try without someone at the controls to recover at all times. The follow mode in addition to the copilot feature means I can have it reliably follow over water and have an inexperienced pilot at the controls to enhance the shots. The drone is small enough that it will not likely hurt someone if bounced into them. It is rugged enough to take a less than perfect landing. It is small enough to fit in a pocket. The footage is crisp and clear and there are options to shoot flat and color grade to match the rest of the footage from other cameras. Customer Service: I needed assistance getting the new firmware downloaded to add the copilot feature. It seems they have been enhancing features through free firmware upgrades. I contacted Customer Service through email and they responded withing 12 hours, on a weekend, requesting more info. Once provided, the gave me a link and instructions for manual loading of firmware in addition to the common over the air methods. Once I have some footage over the water, I will update the review with those results.

I have bought every single accessory for the HoverAir X1 Pro Max, opting for the cycling package rather than the skiing one. Given that I live in an equatorial climate, I didn’t need the thermal battery, but humidity is something I do have to deal with. Let me just say—I am very, very pleased with this product. Why I Chose the HoverAir X1 Pro Max For the longest time, I debated buying a drone but never pulled the trigger. There were just too many considerations: ✔ Weight & Regulations: I wanted something below 249g to avoid registration and licensing hassles. ✔ Photo & Video Quality: I wasn’t sold on the original HoverAir X1, but the Pro Max version finally delivered on image and video quality. ✔ Functionality Over Complexity: I don’t need full-blown drone capabilities—I prioritize selfie photos, videos, and a reliable follow mode while cycling. The X1 Pro Max ticks every box. Real-World Experience The Follow Me mode—both front and rear tracking—works brilliantly while riding my bike. It’s lightweight, quick to deploy, and doesn’t require the learning curve of traditional drones. Customer Service: A+ The real icing on the cake? I lost my beacon charging cable and was prepared to buy a replacement. Instead, HoverAir’s customer support responded within a day, asked for a few details, and promptly sent me a replacement—free of charge. That’s next-level service! A Couple of Wishes No product is perfect, and if I had two requests, they’d be: 1. Better Color Profile: The current footage is a bit too saturated—a firmware tweak could easily improve this. 2. A Proper Remote & Goggles: It would be amazing if HoverAir introduced a physical remote and perhaps an FPV goggle setup in the future. One can dream! Final Verdict If you’re looking for a compact, lightweight, hassle-free drone that delivers excellent selfie and follow-me capabilities, the HoverAir X1 Pro Max is a game-changer.
