Description

This knife features a double serrated blade designed to cut through crusty breads, as well as, through thick-skinned fruits and vegetables. The blade is crafted to render fewer crumbs in slicing and to ensure that the interior serrations never hit the cutting surfaces, keeping the blade sharper longer. The precision forged blade, bolster, and tang are married to the incredibly durable Hostaform-C handle, triple-riveted to the fully-visible tang. Wüsthof knives offer a harmonious blend of precision cutting performance, integrity of materials, safety, and comfort. The knife is hot-drop forged by hand from a single blank of high carbon no-stain steel, a specially alloyed surgical steel consisting of exacting proportions of carbon, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium. The blade is perfectly tapered from bolster to tip, and from the back of the blade to the edge, and is honed by hand. Perfect balance is assured by the full extension of the tang through the length of the handle. A seamless, totally hygienic fit is achieved by the durable Hostaform-C handle, triple-riveted to the fully visible tang; the handle is buffed and polished by hand. This knife is amazing! During the month I’ve had the knife, I’ve been baking like crazy! So I’ve used this to slice a variety of home baked items: Bundt cake, homemade crusty artisan loaves, fresh bagels, pillowy soft loaf bread (as shown in the pic). The knife makes easy work of clean, precise slicing, and doesn’t create nearly as many crumbs or surface tears as most ordinary serrated knives. I’ve also used it to slice tomatoes so thin that you can see through them! This is a genuine Wusthof knife, new, came packaged sealed in the same standard Wusthof brand packaging as the other Wusthof items I’ve purchased. Just as FYI, the most recently made Wusthof knives will have the Wusthof markings on the blade, but the marking on the handle changed a while back from the older red square Wusthof brand trident symbol sticker to an integrated red trident logo printed (or molded into? I can’t tell) on the handle. This is a design change (improvement), but just be aware of this if you have an older set of knives— if the logo isn’t the same as the one on your older knives, that doesn’t mean you’ve received a counterfeit! Just check the Wusthof website. If you look closely at the 2nd pic, you can see the newer Wusthof logo on this knife (back row in the middle/right) compared to the older logo stickers on my older Wusthof knives. ... show more

    • Great for artisan bread
This slices through Dutch oven artisan bread very well. The blade is solid and sharp, cutting through crusts my old knife just slid around on. I think all bread knives wear out eventually, but this one hasn’t shown any signs of wear after about a year of constant use.

I can't believe I struggled for years using a sub-par bread knife thinking that because it was cutting through artisan crusty breads it would take more effort. Not so with the Wusthof 4152 Classic 9-inch Double Serrated Bread Knife. It's a dream come true with no more mangled crusty breads. I am the guy who reads all of the bad reviews before I purchase a product. This is the last review on this knife that you will need to read. IT IS AMAZING! It is incredibly sharp, easy to handle, cuts perfectly, and fits the hand perfectly. But be very careful, as the double serrated edge is super sharp. I have never had a knife that cut a loaf of warm bread, just out of the oven, so easily. You will love this knife! ... show more
