They are actually heavier than I expected. I got them to replace the lights in my closet that quit working. It didn't take too long to swap them out and installation was pretty straightforward. They have a nice bright light and I can dim them down if I want. Overall they are pretty decent. I'll have to see how long they last. ... show more

This is simple to install by screwing the plastic mounting ring to the electric box. The mounting ring has a cross "channel" so you can move the screws anywhere you need them. You can also add extra screws if you have a problem with the light mounting tightly to the ceiling. After connecting the two leads to the electric supply and tucking the extra back in the box,, you simply screw the light to the plastic ring on a bayonet type mount. If you want to change the color temperature, you have to remove the fixture because the switch is on the inside. The light is subdued and only 2200 lumens, but certainly enough for a closet and much easier to install than a top-hat as long as you have a box to connect the wires. I did not see any UL or other rating on these, as with moth fixtures bought on line. At $12.75 each in the two pack this is a good deal. ... show more

These are a good light, but the instructions are pretty vague, but then again there's only two wires, a hot and neutral. It only took ten minutes to remove the old light and install this light. The pics show the old light and the install with new light. There is no need for a ground since everything is plastic. The instructions indicate that there are two wires, a brown and blue marked as "N" and "L" if you are unclear of what this is, the N is neutral, and the L is live or hot. They are not fancy, and I will eventually replace them, and put them in our walk-closet as they're perfect for that location. If you do not do your own electrical work, DO NOT ATTEMPT to install these yourself. Be safe and make sure the power is off before you start! If you are on a budget, these will definitely fit the bill. ... show more

If I had to say one negative thing about these lights it would be that the cover over the two wires coming out of the unit could be shorter affording more play on the individual wires to make it a wee bit easier to connect to the power. The wires on these are red with L symbol (to black wire) and blue with N symbol (to white wire). If you have not hooked up a light with this wiring, it can lead to questioning your life choices if you are not prepared. I have done a few like this and now have it down. You will not need the ground wire as there is nothing useful on the lights to connect it to. The base and the light are mostly plastic. To be clear, I am not griping about this in the slightest. The design is rather good in my opinion and it aids in an easier install. The images show the lights on their highest setting. My wife and I are not fond of the subdued colors available on just about any light that has a three color gambit. They are very bright and one pretty much lights up the entire room. These are on opposite ends of the room with a similar light in between. When all three are going it is batting cage or stadium light bright. The ones these replaced were circular fluorescent style that were ok, but no where near the performance of these. The ballasts were failing so it was time to replace. I am so glad I found these as they are a perfect fit for the room. We chose the black as it makes the light stand out from its surroundings. We thought the white would disappear into the ceiling unless on. Summary: Easy install, nice design, three levels of light to choose from, very bright, energy efficient (24W), low profile and we think they look great. We recommend. ... show more

We live in a more rural area and one of the ongoing things we have to deal with in regular lighting units is having to clean the inside of the light when flies, attacted to the light get in and don't make it back out again. These lights are going in the bathroom to replace a couple of older lights. They make it really easy for you and the backplate should work with almost all styles of electric boxes or just plain wiring. The baseplate unscrews from the back of the light. You then attach it to the ceiling (hardware is included) run the wire through the middle and wire it to the light itself and then twist the light into place onto the mounted plate...that's it...easy peasy. Because it's a seal unit...no place for bugs to enter and one less thing for us to deal with, not to mention that these are really bright. Haven't tried to use with a dimmer, but because you can change the color of the light, you can make it less stark....more warm, so maybe we won't bother. ... show more
