They came in clean, safe packaging, which I always appreciate. Just make sure to give them a good wash before using (as with any pet item). The lip keeps it from spilling. I haven't tested it with insects before. Clean white and sturdy in weight! Great for geckos. I dont have to worry about them tipping them on themselves. X-Large - it's enormous, like the size of an appetizer/bread plate. No dubias or worms can escape from this. I'm sure crickets could jump out - but it's truly escape proof for things that can't jump. Small - the XL was too big/intimidating for my leopard gecko so I purchased a set of smalls. The small is indeed small. You can only put mealworms, mealworm beetles (tenebrio molitor), or SMALL dubias or 1 medium because they will crawl over each other to get out. Superworms can climb out easily with zero effort. The Small works great for my hedgehog because she loves tenebrio molitor beetles and mealworms and neither can escape the bowl...... for superworms I just put them in her playpen and she hunts them down. but the Small is too small for anything I feed to my gargoyle, leopard, and tokay geckos. The XL works great for my tokay breeding pair because I can put a lot of medium dubias in there, or superworms, and they won't escape and there's plenty of food for both of them. I'm about to buy a Large as well. I mean if you have multiple animals you can't have too many feed bowls. Hoping the Large is the perfect size for my leopard gecko. I feel like I'm in Goldilocks and The Three Bears trying to find the perfect bowl size. I hope this review helps you guys find which bowl size is appropriate for what you feed.

We have to lizard enclosers and use in both. Especially great for our tank that houses 4 anoles since they are far more skiddish than our leopard gecko. Makes feeding time for our gecko so much easier since he prefers to eat late in the middle of the night.

Great, escape proof dish for leopard geckos and other small insectivores. Holds small roaches, mealworms, black soldier fly larvae and delegged crickets. Larger superworms wiggle out of the dish, and so do larger dubia or discoid roaches. Nice, ceramic design and very easy to clean. My leopard gecko loves his.

I’m really happy with these bowls. The size is perfect for mealworms and small feeders, and they work exactly as described. The smooth ceramic design helps prevent worms from climbing out, which makes feeding time so much easier and less messy. They’re also sturdy and easy to clean. There really isn't a good escape proof bug bowl out there, but I use these for my reptiles. I have 15 reptiles, so I have these in various sizes. Roaches will eventually get out, especially the medium to large ones, and I've had hornworms escape. The ceramic seems to chip easily. All that said, I've tried other "escape proof " dishes and end up going back to these. I'm still looking for one that's better, but for now, these work

I bought the largest size based off reviews and wow is it big! Probably bigger than we needed for a baby dragon, but he didn’t have a problem getting in or out. The ledge itself is an inch and the lip is perfect for worms not getting out. I’ve had the bowl for about 4 months now so beardie is much bigger and the larger bowl size is nice, but honestly it’s not necessary. I probably would have ordered 1 size smaller in hindsight but I have not had any issues with it, and not a single worm has escaped. The size is not any fault to the seller (I didn’t read the measurements before I ordered so I just kept it and still use it daily). I’ll try to update this later with a photo, but imagine the size of a salad plate with sides. The bowl still works great and it fits in his cage fine, but we have a 50gal tank so he has a lot of room. Initially we had it in his 20 gal tank and it was a bit overwhelming, but certainly still doable. Besides this bowl in the 20 gal tank, he still had his large basking rock, tall climbing plant, 9 inch log, big water basin, and a small fresh greens bowl and he still had about 30% of the tank floor to move around as a baby so the largest size does still work for younger beardies if you have a 20 gal tank. I wouldn’t put an adult beardie in a tank with this little walking space but then again a 20gal tank would be too small for an adult beardie anyway.
