I got this automatic feeder so I don't have to have somebody come feed my cat while I am on vacation. He is an outside cat, so I can't just leave a huge bowl of kibble out, as the raccoons, opossum, and skunks would have a feast. I have been testing this out to make sure it will work properly while I am gone and that my cat will eat from it. It was fairly easy to set up using the instructions. The time stays set, and the feeder dispensed the food consistently at the right times and the amount I had programmed in. It took some trial and error to adjust the amount to what I wanted my cat to have. He gets fed a large amount in the morning so there is leftover to nibble when he feels like it. He gets a smaller amount in the evening, so its not left out overnight. The food does seem to collect towards the back of the bowl, where it comes out, but my cat ate it just the same. It is very quiet, so it shouldn't scare most cats. It has to either be plugged in (comes with plug) or takes D batteries. Rechargeable would have been better, but I was able to plug this in in my garage. One problem I ran into was that the door that holds the dessicant packet kept falling open, dropping the pack into the food. I had to put tape on to hold it closed. I am a little concerned about the whole unit getting knocked over. It's very lightweight and tipped slightly when my cat leaned on it to sniff and investigate. It needed to have more weight in the base to make it more stable. I will probably put bricks or something around it. Despite testing and having this work well, I would still be afraid to rely on this for inside cats. If it jammed, tipped, or didn't dispense the food for any reason (power outage?) the kitties would be starving. At least an outside cat can catch some chipmunks, voles, and such for a few days so they wouldn't starve. I would never use this on a daily basis when at home because I love the experience of feeding time. I do a special whistle, and the cats get so excited meowing and circling around me. It is a good alternative, though, if I can't be here. This one is especially nice with the recording feature on it. Being able to record my whistle and voice makes him come to his feeding area when this dispenses the food since that's his usual cue for when it's time to eat. We set this up for our cat on top of a shelf so the dogs can't get her food. She seems to like this and it saves me from having to climb every day to feed her.

My daughter (Who is in charge of pet feeding) loves this. We plugged it in and got it initially setup the first night. Understanding the portions/feeding times took a minute to understand. We have since spent time fine-tuning servings and timing, and even though we are still working on minor adjustments, we both really like this device! The cats are used to it by that I mean they will eat from it, but when it drops new food, they still get startled by the "new noises". An app to monitor/adjut feedings on the go would be a welcome feature, obviously for a higher prince point but I could see the value-add. I recommend. ... show more

This is a good cat feeder. Being new to this automatic feeding thing and cat feeding in general, this device was easy to set up after reading the directions. Makes it very easy for the cat to fend for itself. Set it for desires times and your cat is well fed. Great product to recommend.

This is very handy to make sure the kitty gets feed on time. You can set up timed feedings, or push the button for a manuel feeding if your pet needs more. It can run on batteries or plug in. I would like it if it had an app, to keep track of feedings, etc. Other than that it works well.

This product has been great so far for my cat who always bothers me for food. It lets out a small portion (about 2 tbsp) as 1 portion. However, you can program the machine to give more than one portion at a time. The only thing I disliked about this product was it was slightly confusing to set up and the time is in military but that is really a preference thing. Overall I like it! Light and durable as well with a lock to keep your pets from getting into food stock. You do have to buy filter cartridges every two weeks as well. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. We’ve had this automatic feeder set up for approximately three days now for our pup. She has two feeding times so my husband set the timer one minute apart to give her the correct amount per feed. As you can see, she’s a bit apprehensive about the noise and distribution method but I think with time, she’ll get used to this method. It was very easy to set up and it holds a good amount of food within the container and it even has where you can set up a ten second voice command on it. In addition, you can have it plugged in but there is a battery backup in case power goes out. (3D batteries not included). We’re set to go out of town soon so we are definitely looking forward to not having to worry if our daughter can’t get to feeding on time due to her work schedule but with this feeder, we feel confident our pup will be ok. It came solely in the box with no extra outside packaging so the box was a bit beat up and it was missing one of the plastic covers on the bottom but no other issues with it.
