This solid cord accepts 3-prong plugs and is more flexible than a cord designed to be used outside, so I can coil it easily. I travel with an extension cord because hotel room outlets aren't always conveniently located and I often want to charge at least 2 devices at a time. I chose this cord because it has a straight plug. The flat, angled plugs that are very common on 3 prong plugs sometimes block a second outlet.
