  • Cable worked perfectly in the application

  • Very good quality and unbeatable price.
Size: 50 ft
I've had this cord for several months now and I am very happy with it. I use it with a power inverter/battery back-up set-up I have in my apartment in case of power outages. I can supply electricity anywhere in the apartment without having to move 300# worth of batteries. I chose this heavy duty cord to reduce the voltage drop that occurs as the batteries are depleted. Plus with a heavier gauge wire you get less line loss compared to thinner wires. With cheaper 16 or 14 Ga. cords you can actually lose some of your precious wattage in the form of heat because the wire will heat up slightly when powering high wattage appliances like microwaves, air conditioners or power tools. This loss doesn't occur with a fat 10 Ga. wire. Even though this cord is about 9/16" in diameter it is surprisingly flexible and easy to roll up after use. It doesn't kink or twist either. The lighted outlet is very handy to know if it is live or not. Probably the only thing that would make this better is a triple tap at the end for the same price. (I think that is available as a separate product that costs more.) I know a lot of people will be considering this product for use in construction and the trades for power tools, etc. It will certainly take a lot more abuse in those situations so I can't personally speak to the product's durability under those conditions. It has a fairly thick vinyl outer sheath but I understand there are more durable materials out there, but of course they cost nearly twice as much. But for my uses, and that of the average homeowner, it will probably last for many years. ... show more

  • Durable
Size: 50 ft
I bought two of these. One powered my shed from October 2019 to this month April 2025. It layed outside, on the ground, got run over by yard equipment, etc.. For almost 6 years solid. It's still fine. A bit stiffer than it used to be and not as yellow. But these cords deserve a solid 5 out of 5.

  • Woods 50' 10/3 extension cord stiff in the cold
Size: 50 ft
The cord looks nice functions good. It has 10 gauge stranded wire. The jacketing is not that tough. If you are doing heavy construction I would not recommend. Running a cart, wheelbarrow or lawn mower over the cords could definitely split it open. If your just for plugging in something and not stepping on or tossing it around i would say it will be great ... show more

  • For inflatable hot tub
Size: 50 ft
We are using this cord for an portable inflatable hot tub. The resistance on this cord per Southwire provided specs is about 0.5W loss per foot, which is very manageable. There is not noticeable heating on the cord. 10 AWG is properly overkill for the 12A the tub pulls when heating, however, what one has to keep in mind is that heating could accumulate during hot weather, and these small heaters may turn-on for many hours at a time. Also to keep in mind if you consider such installation, to put the joint between the female end of the cord and the plug of the hut tub away from wet areas - you do not want to splash on the coupling between the tub cord and the extension cord and get shocked. And you want to make sure it is protected from accidentally falling into the tub as well. Perhaps elevate and secure it via a stake and some zip-ties. Make sure the entire run of cable is properly grounded. The hot tub has its own GFCI and you also MUST have a GCFI at the outlet where the extension cord plugs in - and use the test button from time-to-time to test whether the GFCI still works. GFCIs are mechanical devices that have a life expectancy and wear out. I picked Southwire because it is a trusted brand. I had bad experiences with HD extension cords where the female end welded to the plug of the load on a golf cart charger application because of too much resistance. This cord is rated for 300V, its jacket is PVC, and it is outdoor rated. PVC is no good for applications where fuel or oil could spill on it, such as in the shop, but a good application for running over the lawn. ... show more

  • EXCELLENT Very Heavy Duty Extension Cord--- worth the extra few dollars for capacity and construction.
Size: 50 ft
I've owned probably 100's of extension cords in my life doing all kinds of outside/inside construction work, etc. These are the Heaviest Duty and best quality cords I've purchased in a long time. Note: Most cords for sale out there are 12 or 14 gauge wire and they don't have a very heavy duty insulating jacket. This is a 10 gauge, 3-Conductor cord with a 'heavy-duty' jacket, plus you have neon lights in the ends to show power is applied: a GREAT feature when your out working wondering 'what happened to the power'. Plus, it's very important to get heavy gauge cords like this if you're running high-current tools (Circular saw, Drills, Yard Tools, Compressors, etc) at a distance from the power source. My background is Electrical Engineering and the higher gauge 'cheaper' cords can cause significant loss in the Voltage/Current delivered to the tool/device. This causes the connections and cord to overheat and the Tool to 'lug' and not output proper power/speed causing possibly damage or injury. Note though, this 10/3 gauge wire is Heavy; it can help get you the proper Voltage/Current to a Tool/Device at a distance, but for that reliability you'll have a much Thicker/heavier cord--- so, maybe it's a little 'heavier', but you'll get better performance and safety for 'Power-Type' tools at the other end. ... show more
