Let me start by saying I usually love Wooden Camera equipment as I have their Top Handle NATO kit ($250) and had mixed feelings as it was one of the only handles that allowed it to pivot to a side handle but after a few uses the dovetail burred up metal from use, which is crazy at that price point. It was mounted to SmallRig dovetail which is made from harder metal so the lighter metal WC uses was beaten up by the SR materials. I also own their Top Plate and Side Plate for Varicam LT another $450 dollars and ive had little to no trouble so in an effort to keep my kit continuitous i sprung for this $200 battery plate. Pretty big mistake, honestly. It doesnt include a rail mount, my fault for not checking, and no battery mount (fairly easy to acquire for me) but for this much money I am baffled by their price point for this item. its like anything their cnc machine touches is over 200 dollars haha I had to purchase a few smallrig items to fill out the missing functionality from this item. SmallRig and other companies offer this same item for 40 dollars max and full a full kit you're at about 60 dollars. Yes, the metal WC uses is lighter and since im always trying to keep weight down i thought it would be great but since this item is typically geared to help balance out a shoulder rig, a few extra ounces is negligible. If you are a filmaker building out your kit SmallRig or other competitors offer far better value for money and function. If you dig the brand name thats cool, i know i did, but i have never had a smallrig item fail on me once. you could buy their entire catalog for what WC charges for one of their kits. I feel i have given this company a fair shake but i cant in good conscience recommend this road for any other film maker as you can buy lights, filters, even a dji with the savings you could have. Try out Smallrig and if you hate it, come on back to WC and youve only wasted 40 bucks instead of 200. better than the other way around haha happy shooting ... show more
