I got this for my father, who lives in CO. His only heat is his wood stove and he has two small fans (similar to this one) that sit on top of the stove. They are slightly larger (fan blade) but he says this one moves as much air as the other larger ones. The magnets are great and hold it very tightly to the stovepipe and that makes it nice because you can spin them around to move air in whatever direction you want. The way his stove is set up he can move these over about a 180 - 250 degree area. If he wants the air pointing at his recliner and couch he can do that or he can move it so it's pointing more towards the kitchen. Being able to move it higher up the stovepipe versus just sitting on top of the stove also moves the warm air better. It starts moving at the same time as the ones sitting on top of the stove too.     • It does magnatise to the stove pipe, but not as well as I hoped. But will see.
It does hold itself up in place but I was hoping it had a stronger hold. I have gone through several magnatized temp gauges on the same pipe. And they tend to slide down as the pipe heats up and stays heated. Not sure if all magnets does the same under heat. But so far it is staying put (without a fire). Too early to tell if it will hold or not. Probably another month at least before I need to light a fire. My solution to the temp gauge was to put a 2 sheet metal screws in the pipe. If this tends to slide down when the pipe is hot, I will probably just do the same for it. ... show more

    • Really nice way to capture lost heat
This was a great idea! Generally the top of the stove is to hot for these type of fans. Putting it on the pipe keeps it from getting to hot AND should help capture some lost heat that heads out of the house. Love it!

The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent wood stove fan. I like that the wood fan has a strong magnet to attach to the wood stove pipe. The fan is a little small, but I really like that I can just attach to the stove. I like that the wood fan also has a slot on the back to slide on a heater that has a grill i the front. I like that the fan also has a clip on the top to pick up if the fan is too hot. The wood fan works best on the wood stove pipe. I like that there is no need to use electric to power the fan. This one spins rather nicely. I LOVE that it has magnets to pop directly into the stove pipe. This is a super convenient and really useful for moving hot air. Great design!

I got this on my wood stove pipe, but it is too hot right now too build a fire but it's seems to stick on the pipe good.
