  • It could be a decent machine....
...and that is the truth. The cabinet is made of fairly decent steel, it is well powder coated, and has everything in the box that you will need to get up and running, with the exception of blast media, a line dryer (to keep condensate water from the compressed air), and of course, an air compressor. That being said, now the bad news. The first part is figuring out what KIND of media to use. This device does NOT like fine blast media of any kind, and I am struggling to make 80 grit work. The second part is that the cabinet leaks so bad, it gives colanders a bad name. You will literally have to completely disassemble the entire unit to plug up any air leaks. Third: the view window is NOT glass, nor even poly carbonate, just simple plexi-glass, and is VERY prone to scratches from your thumbnail, not to mention blast media. On that same topic, there are clear plastic tear away shields to help with wear, but as soon as you peel off the first one, good luck getting another to stay in place. Fourth: the lighting is in the WRONG place. It is a decent fixture, but it is on the BACK of the cabinet, BEHIND where you need to see, and I have found that placing an led fixture up on the window shining in the only real way to see anything, and of course, that takes up viewable room. And finally, FIFTH: good luck getting any real work done. The hopper is so shallow, you spend more time trying to shake your media back down to the pickup. If the hopper was a mere 5 degrees deeper, it probably would work more adequately. As it stands now, it is a nice looking device, but it is definitely NOT something I would recommend for a small shop. For a home user, it is inconvenient, for a shop, it will be rage inducing. Now for the things you will need to have to make it work. If you have ANYTHING smaller than a 50 gallon tank and less than 10cfm airflow, I am sorry to say you will be spending more time making this work, than you will doing work. I have a 29 gallon with another 20 gallon expansion tank, but because of the low air flow, it just manages to make you irritated. I could install hard line throughout my little basement shop, and improve the flow, however, my little compressor and tank would probably end up blowing apart. My only saving grace is that is a cast iron and oiled jug. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this unit for anyone. It is a novelty device to be sure, and yes, it does work, but you will end up spending more time to get it to work, than getting to work for you. As for me, well, I am pot committed, and will make it work for me after some SERIOUS modification. ... show more

  • Good unit for the price but not perfect
Overall a good sand blasting cabinet with plenty of space, but it does have a couple of issues. The first one being it has problems with leaking through the seams in the side doors while in use. I’ve been trying to fix this problem but haven’t found a perfect solution yet. Lowering the psi would probably help but I don’t think most people will want to do that. Also the tapered bottom should probably be a little steeper to get the sand back at the pickup tube. I found myself having to tip the cabinet a lot to dump the sand back in the proper place and then eventually removed the shelf altogether so I can just scoop it back to the pickup tube by hand while I’m using it. I’m still giving this 4 stars because be it’s supposed to have the biggest work area out of any other cabinet in this price range and I’m guessing these issues are probably going to be present on any other cabinet in this range. This isn’t a multi thousand dollar industrial grade unit so you can only expect so much out of this price point. You’ll also need a regular when you buy this, it doesn’t come with one. ... show more

  • Good basic sandblaster, but....
This cabinet does what it is supposed to, and works fine. The price was right and the size is good for our shop, since we usually are blasting small parts. The small size makes it easy to move around and store away when you don't need it. The Cons are as follows.... 1. The plastic doors on the sides bow in the middle and then leak like crazy. We end up with almost as much sand outside as we do inside. They really should be metal. We have modified ours with angle iron and extra weather stripping and now it doesn't leak as much. 2. It leaks out of every rivet, joint, etc... Be prepared to caulk the heck out of this thing when you get it. 3. The gloves on ours wore out after about 5-6 hours of use... maybe less. Both gloves cracked and started leaking at the wrists. Buy an extra set of good quality 6" diameter gloves, as you will probably be replacing them pretty soon. ... show more

  • poor quality
The unit comes with very little assembly needed. I had to put some legs on and the issue I had was the holes didn't line up so I had to drill out the unit myself. Not a big deal but when you don't plan on it and it takes much longer its very aggravating. If I didn't absolute need the unit I would have returned it. ... show more

  • Great value for the money
If you are/were like me, you are looking at this Sand Blast cabinet because you want/need one occasionally and have limited experience with one and don't want to spend a lot of money. I do have some experience with these but didn't want to invest too much for what I need it for. I found that it arrived without damage and the parts were all there. The doors were not warped or cracked. I did find that the bulkhead fitting sucked so I replaced it with a true "bulkhead fitting" I got as well from Amazon, which was "Boeray 2pcs Bulkhead Brass Pipe Fitting 1/4 Inch NPT Female Thread to 1/4 Inch NPT Female Thread 1.5 Inch Length Outer Diameter 3/4-16 Bulkhead Coupling Bulkhead Tank Fitting Frame Hose Connector". $14.99 I put legs underneath my Shop Fox. I replaced the plastic window with tempered glass (20-3/16" X 12-1/4") because I'm using crushed glass as my abrasive and found that it doesn't pit the glass. The Shop Fox M1114 would be better if the funnel bottom was deeper, but that would add cost to the unit so I'll deal with it as it is. For my money, I am happy with this purchase. ... show more
