Out of the packackge this wire was really nice except when I went to use it for an audio install, I realized it's not true 4 gauge. It's somewhere in between 4 and 8 guage. All of my 4 guage connectors are way to big to fit

The good: Cable is copper, not the crappy copper clad aluminum being sold all over amazon. It's also true awg. Not international wire gauge. Quite flexible. The bad: Upon opening the package, the smell could be described as rotting butyl rubber (smells similar to vomit). However, this is not unexpected, and 24 hours later after airing out it smells like regular ol' edpm rubber. No big deal. ... show more

    • Don't Spend More Money on "Car Audio" Power Cables

Super happy I discovered welding cable/wire for car audio applications. Welding cable/wire is basically the exact same thing & for a much better price-point. The equivalent OFC "car audio" cable would cost between $10-$15 more & that's for the cheaper brands... $40-$50 more if it says "Rockford Fosgate" on it... So yeah, this is a great deal as far as I'm concerned. The cable is heavy & feels like it's full of lead - yet is very flexible & easy to work with. I upgraded my amplifier power cable from a 4 awg CCA to this OFC wire & could hear a difference right away. The sound is "cleaner" for a lack of a better term. Much more full & rich bass now - with everything else being the same. Now that I know the difference it makes, I'm upgrading ALL my car audio cables to OFC & will never look back (unless I'm broke lol). ... show more

Insulation is nice, it has an interesting smell. Overall cable diameter is a bit smaller than the one that i usually order... the copper does look like a higher grade though...i will be using this for my cars sound system, hopefully is can handle the abuse...

I needed to upgrade my old 4 awg cable in my cars to support a bigger amplifier so I researched and found some nice OFC cable here. I got 25ft of the 4 awg and 50ft the 2 awg here and all I can say is wow.... I don't even think my old 4 gauge wire was even 8 awg... closer to my OFC 10 awg speaker wire I bought! So yeah, this cable is very easy to work with, the outer casing is kind of rubbery and cuts really nice with a sharp blade. Very impressed with the quality and WEIGHT of this cable. I now know what real cable is vs. cheap "Amp Kit" cables. :) You won't be disappointed! I actually had to use a reducer on my 4 awg cable to my Rockford amp that is supped to take 4 awg cable! ... show more

This cable is absolutely perfect the gauge thickness is true to its size it has great flexibility being a welding power cable and that's the one thing people need to know about what to run for your power cord in your car audio the only difference between running a welding cable and a car audio power cable is that the wires are thinner the strands are thinner in the power cable for the car audio specifically and the welding cord has sticker strands making it not as flexible as the other cable but it's flexibility overall is amazing because when you're running power cable you want you're trying to run it from point a to point b and it's mostly a straight shot from your battery to your amp with very little bends and turns so flexibility should not be such a huge issue unless you're doing a full-blown super custom car audio. the power cord is perfect though I would recommend this to anybody that's running a higher-end a lot of power car audio system ... show more

This seller needs to remove all mention of 4AWG from the listing, as this wire is not true AWG spec(American Wire Gauge). They use both terms...4 Gauge and 4 AWG in the listing which is misleading and confusing. 4 AWG is meant to indicate that it meets a standard of sizing and copper content whereas 4 Gauge can vary quite a bit and has no set standard. I bought a 20' length and I'm less disappointed in the fact that it came in at a couple inches under 20' than I am about the spec not being met. I put this wire side by side with 3 other manufacturers true 4 AWG spec wire and this stuff does not have as much copper. In their defense, the writing on the wire is marked as #4 Gauge so I don't fault the wire itself...the wire is not bad at all and says made in the USA. My issue is with the listing saying anything about 4AWG, which in my opinion borders on false advertising. I am not saying to stay away from this wire but rather hoping to prevent disappointment for anyone else looking for 4 AWG and feeling shorted when they receive this stuff ... show more
