  • This thing is cool
The media could not be loaded. I had never even heard of a laser engraver until I saw this one on Amazon so keep in mind this review is from the viewpoint of a complete newbie. It is mostly constructed from aluminum and is sturdy once it's put together. I took my time assembling it and found the process to be quite easy. It did take me about 30 minutes because I kept consulting the instructions. The instructions were easy to read and straight forward. The one thing I did dislike about it's build is the plugs that plug into the unit and laser assembly. There are some very thin prongs in those plugs that look like they can be easily damaged if your not careful. I plan on leaving it put together but it could be a problem if you assemble it every time you use it. I put a piece of plywood down on my dining room table and on my first project I completely missed my project and burned a 3 inch line on that plywood. My wife would have killed me if I burned her table so my advice, put something completely under the machine while using it. I used plywood for my project and I found that the laser burned much deeper into it and I had plenty of scorch marks on it. This wasn't a problem of the engraver itself and more of a problem with my inexperience with using the software. You can minimize the scorching and deepness of the burn through software settings, just don't ask me how, I'm not on that level yet. There wasn't as much smoke produced as I was expecting but there is some. It wasn't enough to set off my smoke detectors. A pair of safety glasses were included to protect your eyes. I found the glasses to be uncomfortable as they felt like they were cutting into my ears. I'll be looking for a larger set in the near future. I found the engraver to operate very smoothly while it's doing it's thing. It reminded me a lot of a CNC machine. The noise it produces is not overly loud. The engraver has the ability to engrave many different types of material but so far I've only used wood. I like this machine, It's ready to go after assembly but keep in mind if your totally new at this there is a steep learning curve with using the software. The picture I included of my first project is not complete as it took quite awhile so I stopped it mid burn because I didn't want to leave it running unattended. My overall impression is it's well built and a very good price compared to similar machines. I'm looking forward to learning how to use it and I'm sure I'll like it even more once I get the basics down. ... show more

  • Laser engraver
I’m a pretty hands-on person and regularly work with 3D printers and other DIY equipment, so setting this machine up was straightforward for me. Assembly was simple, the frame feels solid, and everything aligned nicely without frustration. I have to spend some time to connect it to my computer. If you’re comfortable with maker tools or CNC-style equipment, you’ll have no issues getting this up and running. For my first test, I used a 6” x 4” piece of wood that was about 2 inches thick just to practice. The engraver handled it very well. The detail came out sharp, and the burn depth was consistent across the design. The 300 x 300 mm working area is generous for most home projects, and I appreciate having that flexibility. After that, I tried engraving on an aluminum sheet, and I was honestly impressed with the results. The contrast and precision were excellent, and the detail quality exceeded what I expected at this price point. It performed smoothly without any noticeable skipping or inconsistencies. The 7000mW output provides plenty of power for wood, leather, coated metals, and acrylic. The motion system runs smoothly and feels stable at higher speeds. I also appreciate the safety features like the flame detection system and tilt protection (gyroscope). It adds peace of mind, especially when working with materials like wood. Overall build quality feels sturdy and well-designed. The rails are stable, the laser module feels solid, and it doesn’t feel like a flimsy entry-level machine. For the price, this is a very good deal — especially if you’re already comfortable with fabrication tools like 3D printers or CNC equipment. ... show more

  • Powerful and versatile laser engraver for home and small shop use
I’ve messed around with a few hobby laser engravers over the years, and this one feels like a solid step up without getting into crazy expensive territory. The 7000mw output has been more than enough for what I’m doing around the house and in the garage. I’ve engraved wood signs, leather patches, and even tried a few coated metal pieces, and it handled all of it better than I expected. The 300x300mm work area is a nice size. It’s big enough to do decent-sized projects without feeling cramped, but it doesn’t take over my entire workbench. Setup was straightforward, and once I got everything dialed in, the engraving speed was impressive. At higher speeds, it still produces clean lines as long as you’ve got your focus and settings right. I wouldn’t call it completely plug-and-play if you’re brand new to lasers. There’s still a learning curve with power settings and materials, but that’s true of any engraver. Once you spend a little time experimenting, it becomes pretty intuitive. For a small business side hustle or just making custom gifts and shop projects, this engraver offers a good balance of power, size, and speed. It’s been a fun tool to add to my setup.
