  • It is good
Size: WAND MINI 2.5W
It is great just do it somewhere where people won't be walking by as it is a laser

  • Nice tool
Size: WAND MINI 2.5W
Works well with the Laserburn software. Using it currently to burn wood with my logo. For the money it's a great tool for a hobbyist. Doesn't shake or vibrate at all - super stable.

  • fast and easy to use
Size: WAND MINI 3.5W
20-30 minutes and I was making things. Fun enough and really didn't take anything but some downloading. works well so far, need to dial in saturation but that is a user thing.

  • It's very small It's very small
It was almost fully assembled. You have to put the laser on it and there was a wire that was not plugged in. If you are not an expert already, you'll have to spend some time with the software in order to get it right. It's actually difficult because it's so small. It's easier to engrave small things. I tried to put in a plank that was bigger than the unit. I was able to get it to work but after several runs that got stuck. The software is hard if you're a beginner like me. The engraving is very superficial. I don't know if this is some setting I have to change and don't know how or if that's the way it is. It's not as deep as it is in the 7W engraver. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. ... show more

  • Great "Intro" to Laser Engraving
If you're a newcomer to laser engraving, like I am, this might be worth investing in to you. It took me a while to write this review, because before setting it up I needed to do additional research on it; I looked at some forums and watched a video or two to guide me. It was relatively easy to set up--less intimidating than it initially seemed--and I feel I learned a little about lasers during my first couple of uses. I'm a crafter who always wanted to add laser engraving to my repertoire, but admittedly kind of afraid of the fact that it's a laser which can sound a little scary and maybe even dangerous. However, it it does come with safety glasses and instructions in case you're like me and don't need to see everything demonstrated before you dive in. The engraving surface isn't huge, but I think it's acceptable value-wise; once you learn to operate this one and do a few "prints" you can always graduate to something with more features and a larger bed. It also looks kind of industrial--it's not one of those models where everything is enclosed, so if that is a concern for you, just make sure you exercise caution with it. The engraver does use special software--it's not something you can just start using out the box without an additional app for your computer--so there's that. But if you like to learn new programs and skills, that should be right up your alley. All in all, I recommend it to anyone who understands what they're getting and are willing to follow the steps to set it up. A couple of months in, and I'm really enjoying using it. ... show more

  • Surprisingly great little engraver, good for a beginner
I wasn't expecting much, but this thing actually works way better than I thought. Setting it up took me a bit since I’m a total newbie, but I was ready to go in about an hour—if you're handy, you'll probably get it done way faster. It’s not strong enough to cut through stuff, but it handles engravings like a champ. It’s actually pretty speedy, too. Once you play around with the settings for different materials, you can get some really crisp results. There’s definitely a bit of a learning curve, but that’s pretty standard. I love how compact it is. The work area is on the smaller side, but it’s perfect for little projects and doesn't take up my whole desk. If you’re just starting out and don't want a huge machine taking up your workspace, this is a awesome, space-saving choice. ... show more

  • Good starter laser engraver - do mind the dimensions
Nice, small laser tool. For the price point, it is solidly built and stable. The laser is of decent quality and strength, but don't expect a pro-level result. Due to the size you are limited in what you can do, but overall it is a good entry point laser for playing with laser engraving. Software was easy to use, although I ended up using sofware I was familiar with. If you know GRBL, you will be fine regardless of what you use. Not quite plug and play for me but it wasn't bad. The cowling around the laser catches some strays, but definitely get good laser grade eye protection for use. Also, be sure to be in a well ventilated area or outside - good advice for any laser engraver. I recommend saving the box and packing materials for long-term storage. All in all a versatile engraver to get started with. The cost point is commensurate with what you get. ... show more

  • Decent entry level option for engraving
I honestly didn't have high expectations (or even mid-level expectations) for this laser engraver, but it works better than I expected. Initial setup takes a little while if you've never set one up yourself before (like me), but I was able to get it running and engraving within an hour. I think if you don't have attention span issues like me you could probably do it a lot faster. It's not as versatile as a stronger laser would be since it doesn't cut, but it does engrave pretty well. It's faster than I expected, and images came out pretty clear after some tinkering. It did take me a bit to dial in the settings for different materials, but I'd say that's normal for any laser. I like the size. It's really small, so what you can do is pretty limited, BUT I feel like that also makes it handy for things that just don't need a bigger laser. It's also genuinely small enough to keep on a desktop, which is a huge plus if you're just getting started with lasers and don't want to commit to losing more space. Overall, I think this is surprisingly good for the value. It's nothing like a high-end or professional laser, but it's great for small projects for a hobbyist. ... show more
