    • Great upgrade stereo for an older car!

This head unit is fairly basic in terms of not having rear USB ports or extensive audio adjustments other than the equalizer, balance/fade, loudness, and subwoofer cutoff. The interface is simple and there is not a lot of customization of the background. For me it was more than enough to adjust the audio quality and backgrounds to my liking. It was a very easy unit to install in a 1996 Avalon with a 2-din opening. This car has no built in amp so speaker wiring was simple as well as adding a subwoofer/amp (the unit has 2 sub outs). The car had an older aftermarket receiver in it, so it already had an aftermarket wiring harness that I connected to. I would recommend purchasing a harness specific to your car and any trim kits you may need if you buy this unit, so you do not have to cut into the existing wiring harness. The manual gives you links companies that supply this and canbus accessories you may need. I emailed tech support on the manual asking for firmware update and a Toyota startup splash screen and they were very quick, polite, and responsive to my email. It took them less than 24 hours in my case to respond with the needed files and excellent instructions on upgrading the firmware. The splash screen was almost not needed as the unit quickly boots up and connects to CarPlay, the splash screen is only up for 2-3 seconds. Sound quality/separation is really good and the physical volume button was a must since the car does not have any steering wheel controls, though the unit is capable of connecting to steering wheel controls. FM reception is excellent, even with the broken antenna on the car. You can add numerous stations to the unit's memory. The rear-view camera and dash cam are easy to install and are clear and work as intended. The included manual is excellent and covers installation needs including wiring, steering wheel controls, if applicable, and troubleshooting. The company has a Facebook presence and has QR links in the manual for videos and additional help should you need it. I feel that this unit appears to be built well and is easy to navigate and use. I do not hear any hissing or ground loop noise from the stereo. Installation is simple and well documented. Overall the unit works great, very quick boot up, connects to CarPlay and/or Android Auto quickly & reliabily. Using the unit is straight forward, making setting changes was intuitive & not needing the user's manual. The screen resolutions was sharp & very clear. What makes this purchase great was the included front dash cam & rear back up cameras. However, make sure you test all included accessories before you drill/final mount. The included rear back up camera did NOT work. Had to purchase another camera. Instructions on how to hook up steering wheel controls were wrong. Instructions says to select "Metra OE" for radio brand, but only selecting "Jensen" will enable the SWC controller to work. We used the Axxess controller. Had to call Axxess support, they said just keep select the next radio until it works. Landed on Jensen. ... show more
