I have a Nikon Z6 II. Something that is not cause for a loss of a star but is worth a rant... The instructions are generic with respect to pairing it with your camera. Based on the description and the menu path, which by the way, did not fit my Nikon Z6 II, I was able to figure out which setting was likely the correct one. It loses a star because if you turn off the camera or the remote, the Nikon Z6 II will not recognize it until you pair it again. So, at least with the Z6 II, you have to pair it every time you want to use it. That gets old fast. But... all the buttons work perfectly with my Z6 II. There are no buttons that have no function or don't work properly. The + and - zoom the digital view in and out (not optical zoom). The red button is the video on/off, and the camera-icon button takes stills. The cursor control buttons move the cursor as indicated, and the OK button centers the cursor. The Z6 II allows the Fn1 and Fn2 buttons to be mapped to different functions, and sure enough, pressing the Fn1 or Fn2 buttons on the remote will fire off the respectively mapped function. It works like a charm, but I have to pair it each time I want to use it. Pairing is easy, so I can deal with the minor inconvenience. If you can deal with pairing it with each use, you'll like it.

I got this remote for when I am using my A7iii on a monopod at concerts. The remote works fantastic. My only complaint with this product is it gets stuck holding the shutter down sometimes. I'd have the camera in burst mode and it'd just keep firing away even after I let go of the shutter release. Not sure if this was an issue with the cancera or the remote but it was easily solved with a half press of the shutter button to "focus".

I haven't had this for that long, but it's going to be something I'm going to keep in my camera bag. I'm currently using this with my Sony a9 setup and the setup was easy. If you're a photographer or know they'll probably tell you how crucial it is to prevent yourself from shaking the camera. Well pressing down on the shutter can definitely move the camera adding more aberration or motion blurring than you want. This very hand remote shutter have completely made a difference in wired shutters which is what I was using. Now it's easier for me to join shots with th family andni can stick this in my pocket to hide my remote shutter. If you're in the market for budget friendly Bluetooth remote shutter than this is a great option.

This is a review of the HANPUSEN ML-L7B Bluetooth Wireless Camera Remote for Nikon, with an ASIN of B0B8GZ7V62. Short version (TL;DR) - Negatives: Price. Instructions are out of sync with Nikon. Positives: Shielded buttons. Quick startup. More durable buttons. Great battery door / holder. An actually useful lanyard. Long version … To address the proverbial elephant in the room, I saw that others had experienced issues with pairing and disconnects, so I deliberately investigated that as I started using this. To begin with, I had awful pairing problems, but those turned out to be Nikon being terrible about how the firmware represented the pairing process. (I was trying to do it through the wrong mechanism, which looked like the right one.) Once I got past that, however, the only issues (disconnects and otherwise) I encountered were, it turned out, initiated by the camera. Some of this is adjustable on the camera side … and some of it is on Nikon - they do have a lot of annoying “quirks,” one could say. I also wonder how others are using the remote, given that the worst-case timeout I could identify is about a minute. Personally, it’s rarely getting anywhere close to that much delay between when I do my on-camera setup and when I start using the remote, but I may be the one with strange habits. Anyway, for my usage, I’ve quite liked this remote. As for the whys … Negatives: * Price - while this is cheaper than the equivalent official Nikon remote, it’s more expensive than virtually all the other third-party remotes, even including one that appears to share the design. That said, the other similar one isn’t cheaper by much. The significantly cheaper units take the same design approach Nikon did, of which I’m not a fan, as I’ll explain, so I see this as a minor negative. * Out of Sync Instructions - while trying to describe Nikon firmware operations is, inherently, a moving target, they, unfortunately, got things quite wrong for my setup. Frankly, if I were them, I would have just told people to see their camera manual, but, since they attempted this and got it wrong, I have to see it as another small negative. Positives: * Shielded Buttons - the official remote, and most of the third-party remotes, have buttons which protrude from the surface of the remote. From my experience with remotes like that, this results in a lot of unintentional activations in-bag, etc… This causes battery drain on the remote, strange issues on the camera (the equivalent of pocket-dialing), etc… In contrast, on this remote, the buttons are all in recesses. They’re still very easy to press, but their tops are below the surface of the remote, helping to keep them from being hit by accident. This does, of course, contribute to the remote being thicker than it otherwise would be, but that’s why I chose the headline that I did. * Quick Startup - this may be contentious, but, personally, when the camera was already online (as it should be), I found the remote would be ready for use in about 5 seconds after hitting the power button - consistently. Mind you, powering up the camera first (even though many of the relevant Nikons will keep their bluetooth modules operating in a low-power state while “off”) is important. * More Durable Buttons - in further contrast with the bulk of the competing remotes (including Nikon’s own), this uses rubber buttons, whereas they use ones of a dimple-sticker style. Leaning on my bizarre childhood for background on this topic, I can tell you that dimple-sticker buttons don’t tend to have a great lifetime, nor a very good feel, for that matter. Especially if something creases them, they tend to crack and fail relatively easily. Personally, I vastly prefer the style of buttons used on this unit. * Great Battery Door/Holder - so, my odd childhood also included stuff regarding battery door/holder design … and this one is beautiful. It’s so easy getting batteries in and out of it, as well as getting a positive closure of its latch. This, again, is in contrast with other remotes in this niche, as most of those use a rather fidgety latching-drawer approach. I realize virtually no one else will care about this to the degree that I do, but trust me - this is both easier and better. * Useful Lanyard - many of the remotes I looked at include one, and this is the kind of thing where I find it useful, so it seemed worth mentioning that this has one as well, in case people didn’t notice it in the listing. In short, I think this is a good, and quite useful, remote. It would have been better if they managed to make it a wee bit cheaper and had avoided trying to cover the Nikon pairing process in their own instructions, but, in my eyes, those things only take it down to about 4.5 stars … which still rounds to 5. Also, I do think most of the issues others are reporting are likely due to camera-side things, unfortunately. Nikonisms - yay. Can’t live with them - can’t fix the firmware yourself. (Though golly I’d love to get my hands on the Nikon sources and build system …)

This remote control paired easily with my Nikon Z 7ii, and does just what I needed it to do. I wanted a remote to be able to trigger the camera without touching the setup. You can also start and stop video, and start and stop long exposures in the Bulb setting in the camera, features I haven't used yet, which may prove invaluable for night sky photography. For someone who got their start with film and a cable release (yes, I am that Old), this pocket size device is great. I have also used the self timer function to put myself into the frame, which is hit or miss. Now I can get in position and press the button without running to beat the clock.
