After dropping and shattering the glass of my iPad Air and having to replace it, I decided to make sure to get a solid case for the new one. The Apple Smart Cover case, while sharp looking and light, did nothing to protect my iPad from a slip and fall landing on the corner of the device. With this new cover from Spigen, I feel like I’m getting the best or both worlds : a Smart Cover like case with the added protection for the edges of my iPad plus a nice clear back to show off the color and finish of the iPad Air 5. My only criticism is that for the first 2 weeks or so of ownership the cover smelled AWFUL (especially the soft inside part). I can’t quite describe it, but it was a combo of rotten food and burning plastic. My solution was to leave the cover open as much as possible to “air it out.” Thankfully, the smell subsided and now all is well. If you do happen to get a smelly cover, give it a chance…the wait is worth it. It’s a solid cover and an excellent value.

Fits the iPad Aid 5th gen perfectly, looks really nice. The Apple Pencil 2nd gen magnetically snaps on to the side of the case well, and charges well too. The pencil feels securely in place with the magnet when the case is open, and when closed, the flap holds it snugly in place too.

Good case to protect an iPad. The back is clear, so if the case is a different color than the iPad, it has a nice 2-color look. The material feels a little more like plastic than I expected. I’m not sure how durable it will be. No problems so far.

The case is nice for what it is. I haven't dropped my iPad so i don't know how durable it is in that regard but for just your every day iPad case use it is nice. It has a very nice hand feel, the texture is nice and sleek.

I love this case! The back is sturdy and the front panel anchors down via a magnetic tab that wraps around the apple pencil to the back of the case (the front panel doesn't have a magnet that anchors it to the front of the iPad, so it wiggles slightly, but I find that the magnetic attachment is quite strong and I'm not worried about it coming undone). The apple pencil is easy to remove and charges while in the case. Love the color and how professional it looks; I also love that I can prop it up in two ways with the folding front panel (for artwork and watching movies, etc.; you do have to fold the magnetic tab under to keep it propped up, but after that, it's also pretty sturdy). Would buy this one again without hesitation.

I really, really love spigen. Despite reading the reviews on the difficulties on charging the apple pen I trusted spigen and bought it. Sadly, my Apple Pencil doesn't in fact charge with the case on and I need to take it off to charge it. If you don't mind this, then otherwise it is a great case - aesthetically pleasing and useful for protection.
