I recently had the misfortune of purchasing the Winter Block WC18R Aboveground Pool Winter Cover, and I can confidently say it's been a complete disaster from day one. This so-called "winter cover" is more like a recipe for frustration and disappointment. Here's a scathing review of my dreadful experience: 1. Poor Quality Materials: The quality of this cover is shockingly low. It feels as though it's made from the flimsiest material available, more akin to a trash bag than something that should protect your pool throughout the winter. 2. Inadequate Size: Despite being advertised as an 18-foot cover, it barely covers my 16-foot aboveground pool. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, and the edges flap around like a loose flag in the wind. 3. Weak Construction: The stitching and overall construction of the cover are abysmal. It's like they used dental floss to hold it together. I had to reinforce several seams to prevent the cover from falling apart. 4. Useless Tie-Downs: The included tie-downs are an exercise in futility. They snap, break, or come undone with even the slightest breeze. It's like trying to secure your cover with wet spaghetti – utterly useless. 5. Poor Drainage Design: The design of this cover makes it sag in the middle, creating a water pool instead of preventing it. It's like a rainwater reservoir that threatens to collapse under the weight, potentially damaging your pool. 6. Total Lack of Durability: If you expect this cover to withstand the harsh winter elements, think again. It's more likely to give in to the first gust of wind or snowfall. It's like having a paper umbrella in a hurricane. 7. Misleading Advertising: The product description and images are misleading at best. I purchased this to replace an old one and it has done the JOB!! We just had 7.5 inches of snow and ice and it did a great job of holding that load and not ripping or tearing. It stayed nice and tight around the pool…which means I didn’t have to go out in the cold and keep adjusting it! Certainly worth the purchase!! ... show more

I like the cover itself, but I'm disappointed with the cable used to hold down the cover. I would like to make it tighter, but the cable is so thin I'm afraid it will snap if I go tighter. In precious years I've use covers that had much better cables. I probably won't get this brand again.

I had one of these covers for a few years and it held up it the winters in Ohio along the lake. The only reason i had to buy another is the crows wanted something on or under the cover and pecked at it and ripped a hole in it.
