There’s a few things I really enjoy about this paint set after having used that I was actually concerned about before it arrived. I was worried it would be too big for traveling and pairing out and about but it’s actually not that bad. It’s a little bigger than my 5x8 journal when fully open but it hold almost everything I need for painting. It holds perfectly my clear wax resist crayon, a knitted cotten wipe cloth I made and my Kuretake portable water brush in the empty slot! All my pens and pencils I keep separate. And it still shuts 99% of the way. It’s my own fault for the 1%. Second I was worried I would have either too many or too few colors, I hadn’t decided at the time. But, it’s actually just the right amounts for my style of painting. I love have the different shades of green and especially having Paynes grey!!! The browns and sienna were important in my Bluey family portrait as well. I’m still working on that painting… Overall, this is a nice paint set that is more versatile that I originally thought and all my worries were squashed as soon as I started using it. ❤️ Additionally, the pigments are great, they do exactly what I want them to with my experience painting and I love how I can easily replace paints or even add up to 8 more if I buy the extra pieces. One modification I did make… I put removable glue dots on the underside of every single paint pan. If I hadn’t done that, they do rattle something fierce with moving around and I did NOT like that at all… glue dots are super cheap also. I put them down as I was unwrapping each one. ... show more

    • NOT easy to open the palette every time I need it!

I was ready to take a hammer to it yesterday but gave up and used another watercolor set instead. That makes the third time I have been unable to open the container/palette therefore it is not my favorite. My husband struggles to open it so it isn't just me. I will HAVE to leave it open even when not in use. We have tried everything- pressure on each side, pressure on the bottom, etc. Perhaps mine is deformed if no one else has issues with opening it? Finally got it open yesterday and it will take ages to get all the little papers/cellophane off each little color. Not a very friendly set. I would NOT buy again and may not keep this one. ... show more

I got this to have a smaller tray to use since my other one is too large for my desk. While I love the variety of colors and size, the quality of the paint just isn't the same as my large try using tube colors. The blue is very grainy and some of the colors, like yellow and purples, just aren't as vibrant. So glad I spent a little more and went with these as they have good pigment and depth of color. Do know that they are loose in there. I took a little dispenser of double stick tape (used for scrapbooking) and placed a strip on it along the tray to hold them in place.I also put a bit on the little block of pigment to hold it in its little box as well although some were already sticking from the bit of water that had rundown the sides from making my sample of colors.
