  • Looks great; nice powerful fan, and very quiet on lowest setting,
Size: 21-Inch Style: 450 CFM
I love how unobtrusive the fan is, and how quiet the low setting and mid settings are. The installation was a bit tricky, mostly because I was putting the 21" vent in a 30" cabinet. But it works great, I'm very happy with it.

  • ‘Excellent Replacement
Size: 21-Inch Style: 450 CFM
My electrician had this installed as a replacement for an outdated model and it was an excellent fit! Very easily installed and fastened nicely to the existing vent duct. While it only has two lights, it does a an excellent job lighting the entire cooking area. The fan on high is a bit loud, but the suction power on low does a great job eliminating odors. Very pleased with this purchase and would recommend. ... show more

  • Stop looking...buy this one...
Size: 20.5-Inch Style: 390 CFM
Fits like a glove in my custom built hood. Quality is that of $500-600 units I saw at local home stores. Favorite thing about this unit is it has no extra parts of details that do not add to its functionality. 'Squirrel cage' type blower fan literally runs circles around the 'fan blade' type blowers in Home Depot/Lowes style hoods. Motor housing is solid cast metal and the unit is very simple on the inside. Installed quickly since you can screw straight through the front or back wall of the unit to a 2x4 you place in the front and back of it. Very quiet for its power. Clears my kitchen of an entire 20" cast iron skillet of bacon with ease! Replacement of this unit would also be easy due to its design. I thought the color would bother me not being stainless, but it is so slim and hidden (maybe only 3/8" reveal below mounting surface) I can not see the unit to know its not a different color. I will not be messing with it since it works so well. I also originally purchased the Broan LT30 30N T-Shape Hood Liner for PM250 and PM390, Silver, 30-Inch Silver, but was able to build my own opening for it out of simple 2x4's and finish grade 3/4" plywood and paint the mounting surface with high gloss white to resist oil saturation. Works awesome and is easy to clean. I likey... ... show more

  • This hood vent has great draw/pull ability.
Size: 20.5-Inch Style: 390 CFM
I hate kitchen odors in my house. Especially bacon, fish, etc., so, I wanted something that would tackle the task with ease. This unit has great draw/draft ability. Will actually pick up my hair a little, while close to the vent, when on high. We have it vented out into our attic and from there, to the gable vent of our new home. I'd give this unit a Five star, but I have to take something away for the noise factor. If you need it on high often, do not expect to hear anyone in the adjoining room. Questionable on medium, without yelling and possible on low, simply speaking up a little/lot. We'll have to wait to see about durability, but appears to be a very solid unit. The lights are two candelabra based bulbs. Meaning the kind you'd put in a chandelier. Strange as that may seem. It takes 40 watt maximum and is useful light, but certainly not enough by itself to see what you are cooking. I like it. And it was perfect and easily fitted into our custom built cabinets. BTW- ordering from amazon is so much easier than going to the big-box store - talking to Tony who asks all kinds of questions, learns you're building, so tries to sell you appliances and X # year warranties, before telling you they do not carry them in-store and will have to order it, and since he really doesn't know exactly what you are talking about, you may or may not get what you need when HE orders it. ... show more

  • Good
Size: 20.5-Inch Style: 390 CFM
I am happy with this fan. Uses two 40W candelabra bulbs. Light has only On or Off setting. I wish the lights were brighter or maybe it's that they are not a focused beam, or maybe the unit sits higher than my old under-cabinet unit. The lights seem to be situated more to the back of the stove than they would be with an under-cabinet unit. Fan has 3 settings. Low is pretty quiet, high is somewhat noisy but not bad. The controls are sliders. The fan has 3 distinct settings: low, medium, and high. This unit plugs in; it is not designed to be hard-wired. I bought this to go with the Broan LB30 30-Inch Hood Liner . I bought an older home that had an empty-inside wood hood (no over stove cabinet) and thought the liner would slip right in there, we pop the fan in, and that's it. I downloaded all the instructions, spec sheets, etc., I could find online ahead of time. The instructions (both from the web and from the box) when utilizing the liner are confusing. My contractor had to call the 800# for advice and that person told him that the liner is not designed to hold up the fan. He said you have to either have a cabinet or build a box. In effect, the liner is just to cover up the wood, protect it, and give a stream-lined look. After some discussion we decided to just use the liner to hold up the fan and it seems very solid. The liner installs with the opening pointing down (concave), so the bottom of the fan unit ends up 4" above the bottom of the hood and is hidden. I posted some photos. It's slightly awkward reaching under and/or looking under to locate and move the switches which are on the bottom of the fan unit. I'm sure it will become automatic with use. For my situation, this unit combined with the liner were perfect. The finished project looks very professional and was way less costly than a custom hood. It was not possible to find a matching cabinet in order to install a ready-made under-cabinet fan unit. The cost for this fan unit, the liner, and labor was less than or equal to what it would have cost for an off-the-shelf fan unit, non-matching over-stove cabinet, and labor. ... show more
