If you put in ice packs or ice in the water container, it does cool. And it works very well in a small room. The fan has some noise but not too loud. I would recommend except it is VERY difficult to drain the water container. Similar to humidifier, you cannot leave it wet for long periods or it will grow mold. the only way to remove the water container drawer to take off the back which is very cumbersome and time consuming. I use a turkey baster to get the water out instead of taking off the back, wipe it out and run on fan mode to dry it out once a week. ... show more

This works well in my garage. Even though it's a bit underpowered for the space. Only negative is one of the ice packs it came with developed a crack within the first week. Bonus tip: I fill a 1/2 gallon jug with water and keep it in the fridge. When the tank level gets low, it fills it to near max...with cold water, which helps! ... show more
