I bought this thinking it was a real portable air conditioner, but it’s actually just an evaporative cooler that uses water to blow cooler air. There’s no compressor, no BTU rating, and it doesn’t lower the room temperature like a true AC unit would. It only makes the air feel a little cooler if you sit close to it, and in humid weather it barely works at all—in fact, it just makes the room feel damp. The listing makes it sound like an air conditioner, but it’s really more of a fancy fan with a water tank. My dorm doesn’t have any central cooling, so I was really struggling to stay comfortable once the weather warmed up. After a lot of searching, I decided to try this windowless portable air conditioner—and I’m so glad I did. It’s compact, easy to set up, and actually cools the room down better than I expected. I especially appreciate how quiet it is—I can keep it running while I study, take Zoom calls, or sleep without any issues. The remote control is super convenient, and the 7-hour timer helps me save energy when I forget to turn it off. The four included ice packs are a great bonus. I rotate them in and out of my mini fridge freezer, and it really helps boost the cooling effect on extra hot days. This device does not work well. It is very flimsy, and the ice bricks only last 1-2 hours. A bag of ice in front of a fan would work as well. I have no idea how it rated five stars. It did not cool a 20 by 15 room at all. I had to direct the cooled, not cold, air directly at me with a room fan blowing simultaneously to achieve any relief from the heat. Unfortunately, It was not what I was hoping for. Putting the frozen ice packs in the water tub did not chill the water enough. It’s a Great concept, but it should have an actual freezer built into it in order to get cold air blowing out of it. Basically, it’s a big nice quiet blowfan….

    • Bad product, they keep charging my credit card for it despite it being returned

If I could give zero stars I would First of all, this was not a good air conditioner, not worth the money. Second of all, I returned it, received the refund, and now my credit card is being charged a second time as the merchant is saying I didn't return the item. I have the paperwork showing I returned the product, so they should not be allowed to charge my credit card a 2nd time. I am now 3+ phone calls in and an incredible amount of time wasted on this issue. They shouldn't be allowed to charge my credit card in error. I am very unhappy. . ... show more

    • Decent cooling if use ice packs, but hard to clean

If you put in ice packs or ice in the water container, it does cool. And it works very well in a small room. The fan has some noise but not too loud. I would recommend except it is VERY difficult to drain the water container. Similar to humidifier, you cannot leave it wet for long periods or it will grow mold. the only way to remove the water container drawer to take off the back which is very cumbersome and time consuming. I use a turkey baster to get the water out instead of taking off the back, wipe it out and run on fan mode to dry it out once a week. ... show more
