We bought this WILDROAD Hitch Cargo Carrier to haul a Pride Maxima HD scooter (about 280 lbs) up to Niagara Falls. The listing says it can handle 500 lbs and it actually held up longer than I initially expected it to. To its credit, it got the scooter there and back and served its purpose for quite a while. After almost a year of use, the platform started sagging and a bolt holding the ramp eventually failed. While it is not perfect and it sucks that it finally gave out, I am very impressed with the customer service. The company actually held true to their warranty and offered to send me a new one even after all that time. The assembly was straightforward but we did have a nut fly off early on. I ended up grabbing a better replacement from ACE to feel more secure. The carrier does bounce a bit while driving even with the stabilizer but it managed the weight of the scooter for many months. The included ratchet straps feel a bit cheap so we preferred using our own for peace of mind. Bottom line is that this carrier lasted longer than I thought it would. If you are hauling a heavy mobility scooter you might notice some slanting over time but the company stands behind their product. It is a solid choice for suitcases or camping gear and the excellent warranty support makes it a much better value.

It's a little heavy to put on your vehicle by yourself. With two people it's not a problem. Very stable on the hitch. Carries my 80lb electric wheelchair with ease. My only complaint is I wish the retaining pins for the ramp were a hair longer.

Recently purchased cargo carrier after borrowing a family member’s carrier. Used for a road trip golf outing with buddies. Carried all clubs, shoes, clothes & miscellaneous. Drove 8+ hours through rain storm, high traffic, beating sun. No leaks, secure (no wobble), actually could not tell it was there! Folded nicely for parking. Perfect example of “fit for purpose ”. Easy to assemble.

Very nice item. The self assembly was a little tricky but can be done by one person. Once attached to the vehicle it became apparent that it does not actually “lock” open for loading as it does in the upright position. It can be locked but once you put anything that weighs say 200 pounds the locking pins are stuck. Otherwise a very nice piece of equipment.

This cargo carrier is a beast. The ramp makes loading super easy, especially for heavy gear. Fits perfectly into a 2” receiver and stays solid thanks to the included stabilizer. The ratchet straps are a great bonus and hold everything down tight. Fold-up feature is smooth and saves space when not in use. Great build quality and holds up well even on longer hauls

Needed something to be able to take our lab with us and we didn’t want to use my truck. Had a camping trip planned and wanted to go off-roading. My truck isn’t 4x4 and my wife doesn’t like taking her jeep since it’s small in storage. Decided to get this. My dog had the whole trunk to himself. It was heavy and felt durable. We connected it to the jeep with ease. I was able to do it by my self but would recommend 2 people. It was as wide as the jeep. I didn’t use the ramp due to it not being needed but can see future use for it like taking our daughter pit bike . It came with 4 straps to tie down our camping stuff. When we arrive to our camp site after unloaded it we took it off and it was not damage thru the bumpy terrain. Very well built

We purchased this for a 1000 mile round trip vacation. I chose this one for its better design & larger capacity bag than the others. The bag is super sturdy with a high quality zipper & velcro securements. Straps are solid! It fit into our 2” hitch with no problem. We did not experience any stabilizer problems. There were no directions included, but no worries as they’re on YouTube. Plus my husband said it wasn’t difficult to figure out. We did encounter rain with no issues . We fit 5 carry on size suitcases plus 2 extra items on top. This really freed up room in our SUV for 4 adults. We love it!

I give this thing zero stars. Used it one time hauling a 120pound generator for 65 miles and it bent it down 30 degrees in the first 20 miles. Definitely not a true rating of 500lbs. Rating is more like 50 pounds or i received a defective unit. Pro - - It looks great, powder coat is nice. - It looks sturdy - comes with all the hardware you need, even extra hitch u bolts so it doesn’t wobble and sway. I’d say this thing would crumble in half without it. Cons - Weight rating is more like 50 pounds, NOT 500 - instructions just so so. If your handy it’s easy to assemble - Main support tube is soft metal and bends easily
