    • A great lamp, with a two detracting issues
UPDATED 2020/09/09: UPDATE: I was previously very inexperienced with smart lights (of various brands) and their associated apps, and the ability to create scenes that can then be activated by Alexa. Now that I know of this functionality, “Issue 1” is no longer an issue for me: I can create a scene with any white that I want. Consequently, I have added a star. Issues 2 & 3 are still issues that I have with this lamp. I really like this lamp. I have 2 already and another on the way at this writing. I do however have a few issues that currently land this lamp at 3 stars. Issue 1: tunable white via Alexa Using the LE Lampux app, white can be tuned from a really warm white (2000k) to a very cool white (5700k). This is an excellent range. However, when using Alexa to switch between different whites, the range is limited. When asking Alexa to turn the lamp to “warm white” or “cool white”, checking the LE Lampux app shows that asking Alexa to turn the lamp to “warm white” doesn’t result in a white that is all the way down to 2000k (probably closer to 3000k); same goes for the “cool white” voice command—it doesn’t go all the way up to 5700k (maybe 4500k). So, I really love the range of white (2000k is so nice at night), but if I can only get that using the LE Lampux app (or the buttons on the lamp itself), that kind of defeats the purpose of buying a smart light for use with voice control. If there is any way for the LE Lampux skill+Alexa to allow for voice control to allow for tuning white within the full range of the lamp’s capabilities (2000k - 5700k), I would happily increase the rating by 1 star. Issue 2: decreased color saturation with decreased color brightness When setting the lamp to RGB colors, at 100%, the colors are very pleasantly saturated. However, when reducing the brightness, the color saturation is also reduced (this occurs using Alexa or the LE Lampux app). This should not be a hardware issue—I have smart LED bulbs from Kasa that still exhibit full color saturation even at 1% brightness. I would therefore assume this is a firmware issue with the lamp. If the color saturation issue were fixed, I would gladly increase my rating by 1 star. Issue 3: color issues My final issue with this lamp (though it may be an Alexa issue because I am having the same issue with my Echo Flex USB nightlight attachment), is that using voice control to change to certain colors, especially in the green/yellow/orange part of the spectrum, yields the wrong colors. This is especially apparent for orange: asking Alexa to turn the lamp to orange, gives a yellow color. Using the LE Lampux app to choose orange from the pinwheel, *does* give orange. This may be an Alexa issue, or an issue with the LE Lampux skill (especially since it seems Alexa’s color choices, and white choices for that matter, seem to be fixed, no matter what type or brand of smart lamp or smart bulb is being used). Due to the fact that this might be an Alexa issue and not an issue with the lamp, I have not removed a star for this issue. I would nevertheless be happier with some software/compatibility improvements that result in more faithful color reproduction. ... show more

After months of my 2-year-old daughter waking up far too early, I went looking for a solution. I found lots of “ok to wake” clocks available. I wanted something simple that would connect to my phone. I ended up purchasinf a $90 product - but it would never actually turn on the light when it was set it do so. So I returned that and found this as an alternative. The first night, my daughter chose the color she wanted to wake to (pink). We talked a lot about how mom would come get her when her light was pink. It took a few days, but now she’s used to the routine and I’ll even hear her say to herself, “light pink, mom come get you.” I’m hoping to scoot the time back little by little, but for now, she knows to wait for the clock and it’s almost stopped the screaming for mom. The pros of this product - - It’s simple to set up right out of the box. Download the app, pair with the device and you are good to go. - you can manually turn on the light. You can turn on the light at any time from your phone or the button on the top of the lamp. You can also easily shut it off with a tap. - the alarm works wonderfully. I haven’t had any issues with it going off when it’s supposed to. The cons: - my only complaint is that I wish it would allow you to change the color of the lamp for different times. So I could change it to blue to wake up my son later. But I can’t seem to see a way to do that. The color is fixed on the app for all alarms. - I also haven’t been able to hook it to Alexa. I only tried once and it didn’t seem to work. I’ll give it a shot again but this is well worth the money for what I use it for. - I wish it had a little clock on it to see the time. Would be useful as my daughter gets older. I’ve already shared product with other moms who need a ready to wake clock. It looks nice on the side table and has worked well. ... show more

    • The lamp is great. The power adapter is crap.
We have 3 of these lamps. We love the lamps themselves. But on two of them, the power adapter has failed. When we tried to turn on either of these lamps, it flashed on, then off. We resolved the issue on both of them by removing the power adapter that came with them and connecting a USB-C cable to another USB power source. Now they both work fine. This issue occurred after 3 months for one lamp and 4 months for the other. We use the lamps daily. ... show more

    • Versatile bedside lamp
I have slowly but surely started converting my house to a "smart house" with Alexa-enabled devices. I bought two of these lamps for the master bedroom so both my wife and I could have our own. Our bedroom is dark by design and I wanted to be able to turn on one or both lights with Alexa at bedtime while still in the living room. With an Alexa routine, these lamps come on in the morning after the alarm is dismissed. I chose a soft red color at a reduced brightness so waking up isn't so jarring. All of this can be done with Alexa, so you don't even need to touch the actual lamp. Setup is a bit tricky, as you'll need a 2.4G wireless setting on your phone to enable the app to connect with the lamp to set everything up. Luckily my router has both a 2.4 and 5 G setting, so I was able to switch to the 2.4G with no problem. Before buying this product, you may want to ensure you can do this with your router if you wish to control the lamp with Alexa or your phone app. The lamp can be operated with the pushbutton and dial on top if you want just a "standard" lamp.
