This humidifier replaces my earlier Whynter RPD-501WP dehumidifier purchased in August 2018. It ran 24/7/365 for six plus years. It was a solid performer until the drain pump nozzle filter clogged. It still works without the pump. I replaced the old workhorse with a new and improved Whynter dehumidifier model RPD-506EWP. It is easy to use, has three drainage options, and a new feature: Comfort Dehumidifying Mode. It keeps the humidity levels from 45% to 55% and automatically shuts off in that range. This is the second Whynter dehumidifier I have used for this location.(The first was recalled after I had owned it with no problem for 8 years. )When it developed a leak, Rowena from customer service shipped me a new one and then didn’t even insist on the hassle of sending the used one back. Instructions were straightforward and it's very easy to use. Love the pump feature! Only wish is that the electrical cord was a bit longer as the user manual recommends that an extension cord should not be used. Glad my first dehumidifier is a Wynter!

    • Need Continuous Dehumidification

I bought this because it has the continuous condensate pump which has been working great. But the dehumidifier is frequently shutting its compressor off before reaching the setpoint. I've tried changing the settings and even putting it on the continuous mode but it still takes a break often. After shutting itself off it randomly runs with the compressor off for much longer than the three minutes between intervals for no obvious reason while the humidity climbs and climbs. It has been a huge headache to figure out what is wrong and I would not recommend this to anyone. ... show more

Great product. Quite and works as advertised. Moreover, when I had a problem with it, Whynter's customer service was very helpful and easy to work with. Eventually they provided a replacement unit.

Avoid this. (But good luck trying to find something a whole lot better). It more or less works, but the pump, which was the sole reason I paid this much for it, failed almost out of the box. Worse, it was a partial failure in that it kinda sorta worked for a year. But with 11 months of use, out of the 12 month warranty, it gave up. Only then did I look at the warranty terms which state that Whynter pays shipping on warranty claims for the first two months. At what UPS would charge me, it's almost better just to buy something else. Everything else about it is just mediocre. Too noisy to use in an occupied space. ... show more
